I sent off my application thingy to get provisional LGV license today and I have had a colour photo copy of my photocard driving license. The thing is it has C1 and C1E already on it. I'm not rightly sure what they are, but know I've only passed tractor, car and bike tests in the UK, but did do a Class 1 CDL in the US. Not that the DVLA know about this.

confused
As long as you ticked C and D on the D2 form you will be fine

Passing C will give you ANOTHER C1 but it will not show on the licence because that one is a subcategory of C

As you aleady have LGV C1 you will not be doing initial driver cpc modules 2 and 4

You will need 35 hours of periodic driver cpc before 09/09/2014 if you wish to drive LGVS commercially after that date

So is my C1 grand fathered from pre 1997, or have the DVLA given me a bonus category?

YES - it has the same expiry date as your B (car) category

Your new C, including another C1, will have the expiry date of the medical

Thanks for the pat on the back chaps! smile
The buggeration factor was high yesterday, not least caused by another pupil breaking the trailer cutting a corner, resulting in the loss to me of 90 minures tuition while its replacement was found.

So I wasn't actually able to practice driving one on the road since my last go at the test two weeks earlier. The replacement trailer was interesting, with the parking brake on the opposite side to what I am used to, a leg winder that hadn't seen grease since leaving the factory and no marker on the side to line up the rear on the reversing bay test.
Anyway using a mudflap edge as the side marker, I stopped it exactly where I expected, and the road test was straightforward, with all the skills coming back to me with only four minors, despite the fortnight break.

Thank gawd that's over with! Now, to find some work.. driving

im very much looking forward to it.
NO WAY!!

If this is for a C licence then a deffo NO WAY

If for a CE then its possible

Either will fry your brain by very early afternoon OR you will spend too much time not driving

I know this does not work
