Just a small point, but in real life Newman was way cooler than McQueen

Heavy V8 in rear replaces small flat four, its not rocket science do you not think it will effect the handling.maybe its you who should "come on now"
It's mid engined, on the off chance you hadn't noticed. I doubt the steering will be heavy, but the handling will only have improved from std, especially with the mods.

Looks like they have used an engine cover from a ski-boat with the usual crap leatherette trim!

After reading that I think it's defiantly worth the money,
Don't know if I’d spend my own hard earned but looking at the original work and the quality of the restoration and its unique history you cannot compare it to other beetle conversions, cool

I love it. I actually think it's pretty cheap given the ownership history. Paul Newman was the man. Starred in some classics, 2nd at Le Mans and 200 odd million to charity.

'Herbie Gets Thirsty?!'

P.S. Can't decide if I like it or not. Which I guess means I don't really care.

I had a yellow Beetle in college. It may have been slow but it did no harm in getting attention of the opposite sex. I've just bought another one of similar vintage 20 years later and it seems to have no such impact whatsoever. Quite the opposite. My wife thinks its a complete waste of money. Its from 1970 and still on its original tyres which did make the journey home on the M25 slightly terrifying.

As for the beetle - nicely done, but way too expensive for me, I'll take a bottle of salad dressing instead
My favourite response to this was 'America!!! F**k yeaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!' Awesome

I would prefer the following. At least it should handle reasonably well. Not so much a sleeper but still fun to bimble around in.

Its a roof chop job not even a karmann and why mount the engine like that he could have replaced it with a flat six turbo much more in keeping and it would fitted so much better with a boot spacer and how much are you paying because its paul newmans old car you could build twenty five yourself for that much!!! I wonder how much the volvette would go for!!!

I have ford escort 1.3GL, apparently Frank Skinner once looked at whilst sitting in traffic. I would be willing to sell it for £100,000 if anyone's interested? wink

Where does it say that it's not a Karmann? And the flat six wouldn't fit in there either, and I shudder to imagine how it would 'handle' with a heavy 6 cylinder hanging out the back eek

And you couldn't build that car for £25k either wink
