That bonnet is a travesty. The rest of it is brilliant.
+1 Spoils it a little, would look great with a normal bonnet.

Its a roof chop job not even a karmann and why mount the engine like that he could have replaced it with a flat six turbo much more in keeping and it would fitted so much better with a boot spacer and how much are you paying because its paul newmans old car you could build twenty five yourself for that much!!! I wonder how much the volvette would go for!!!
Holy run-on sentences, Batman!!!

Beside, if you want a convertible Beetle with a flat-6 turbo for $250,000, just buy a 997 Turbo Cabriolet.

It isn't the vinyl pleated ski boat engine box that is a turn-off, it's the front radiator mount that requires the vented front trunk (in Porsche circles known as the 'frunk') that is the oddity and raises the ick factor.
Separately, the 997 Turbo S Cab would be no substitute. That one is a car guy magnet and has none of the properties of an old beetle. Sadly, the Porsche increasingly is ordered with an extra wide driver seat which tells reams about the demographics of the buyers.

Horrid, and pointless waste of money on what was already an ugly convertible anyway.

Buy a Porsche...or an Ultima.

Well, I'm guessing it was built in the '60s, and that was status quo at the time, excepting higher performance stuff.

I want that, but not at that price frown. As previously mentioned, the bonnet is a bit of a shame, but in the sleeper stakes I would rather have that to keep things cool rather than two massive vents in the rear wings

Nice engine. I could think of better uses for it though.
