slightly push the budget and get a VXR8? on PH Classifieds cheapest is £19k though but im sure I saw them on auto trader a lot cheaper but cba to search right now
Edit - Cheapest on Autotrader 18k.. have these gone up in value slightly?
Probably fairly unreliable and not a good daily but maserati 3200's have always tickled my fancy!

Skyline? That budget will get you a tasty 33 GTR, they don't cost that much to run if you don't got OTT with the mods, but for your budget you should get a fine example with plenty of basic work to free up some power. Servicing is pretty basic stuff, fluid changes for the large part. Consumables are cheap.
911 is a good shout, no end of 996s around for that money, might take you a while to find a non-tiptronic without a gash interior though
Ignore the cost of parts and go for a nice Maser 4200

Maserati 4200's are quite a way above the £14k budget though?
www.pistonheads.com/sales/2887331.htmFor that budget e46 M3 ALL DAY LONG! you could get an 05 plate with approx 50k miles, as an all round car nothing is close IMHO,
practicality, ok rear seats, stylish, decent interior, amazing bulletproof engine, performance 0-60 5.2 sec, lovely exhaust sound, resistance to depreciation, rarity (relative to renault's, etc), driveability/handling, biggish boot, you would have a lot of fun.

Exactly what I thought when I read the thread title. £14k will get you a well-sorted one now. Might be an idea to go for the manual to avoid big bills if the SMG gearbox packs up.http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2826484.htm

Yea saw that one but for the price and 79,000 miles it just wouldnt even be considered by me if i was buying it... those maseratis really are getting cheap now though! have you ever driven one Stu, what are they like? sorry for OT I'm in exactly the same boat with around the same sort of money to spend.
My last few cars have been an Audi B5 RS4 and a Mercedes CL55 AMG and to be honest I thoroughly enjoyed both. Considered the M3 and driven a few but depreciation puts me off and points me straight back to a RS4 repurchase... Or a facelift 996
