BMW MCOUPE - Fantastic Bat Mobile - had one for a few years.

Personally thinking about a CLK55 post the 350z which is next. Bloody fast and, in the real world, sound like a better bet than an M3??

Lots of ideas thanks guys.. but i can narrow them down a bit..

Firstly and probably controversially, Ii just don’t like BMW's. Totally irrational I know, but they seem to be driven by Type A people and I'm very much a Type B.

The Maserati would be a great fun car, but as an everyday drive? The potential service bills scare me.

The 966 is a definite possibility, a couple of independent local Porsche specialist’s means servicing should be manageable, I’ve had a couple of Porche’s in the past and always found them to be reliable ( even my 928!) But then again I could be sharing a car park with the boys and girls from Foxtons and their mini’s, so again maybe it’s too nice?

Maybe its time to consider plan B, buy an old hot hatch, GTI, Alfa, Clio etc, drive it like the Italians and just consider it as a disposable item.

Cheers

Martin.

PS Just read this again and please note I dont work for Foxtons! One of my clients just happens to share thier HQ in Chiswick.

Monaro? You may even squeeze a VXR under your budget biggrin
Er, if you don't mind Sir, we'll have none of the 300 Monaros that are left, getting dented and scratched in office car parks, thankyou!

I'm just planning my entry route into a cheap, battered monaro in a few years' time hehe

Martin.
I do understand your Type A aversion, but surely Type B (Boring) if you get a porker will not give you that fun factor??

I highly recommend you try the Type C (crazy) category!
Have you thought about a Lotus 5 or one of the copies style of fun machine???

i hate threads like this because it get me thinking about my cars and what I could do if I start changing them.NO...no more cars.
Always fancied a TVR but never fancied a BMW what type does that make me insane more than likely the same as anyone who spends money on cars.

Martin,
Budget is up to 14k, but I guess you're happy to spend less? The RX8 is worth serious consideration. There are haters, but it's a great package, especially if you offset the many thousands of pounds you save on purchase against fuel.
As I think you said earlier, you do know how to drive them (and they certainly don't like being in the 'wrong' gear if you want to get a move on) but they fill the brief.
Cheap to buy and service, new for the money (after all, someone else has taken the depreciation hit) and a bit of a hoot. If no-one buys this type of thing, manufacturers will stop making them and, to any piston-head, that would have to be a pity.
I've got one and like it. Worth a look I reckon.
Good luck with the search.

John
Don't believe the stories put out about TVR's.
My Cerbera has been totally reliable and servicing cost from TVR specialist are less than BMW, Porsche & Audi etc!

AND I'm proud to say that certain R8, 911 GT3, 911 Turbo and Morgan Aero drivers all know how beautiful the rear end of my Cerbera is!
Although that R8 driver did try dam hard! Ha-Ha!
