Right. New job, car allowance. Need car.

Have a nice high mpg 320d "ED", and commute isnt too far (but nice back roads).

Max spend, £30k.

MUST be in manufacturers warranty or an approved main dealer car for the warranty and peace of mind. (don't want to debate this bit please, personal preference!)

Ideally some seats in the back in case I need to take clients.

Needs to have at least the pace of 997S I have owned.

At the moment, I'm thinking days are numbered for a V10 5.0 super-saloon, and an E60 M5 with low miles at a main dealer for around £26k is hard to beat....

Other ideas please.

I think you've answered your own question, at current prices the e60 M5 takes some beating especially if you need rear seats.

Fully loaded (ish), v8, swift rather than fast (6.1 to 60), quattro for the lovely winters we are having - add snow tyres and this would be unstoppable.

15k ..... !

Other obvious ones are the M3 & S5 or the RS4 or even S6 but don't know if they are above budget.

XKR? Not sure if back seats are usable.

Lexus IS F?

VXR8?

ISF: Have considered this. but it just looks a bit dull.

E55 and E63, not a bad shout. I might even forgo the seats if I could get into an SL55 in budget (main dealer, under 30,000 miles).

Not really sure if this is a bit too small rear seat wise, but I think it ticks the boxes otherwise. With a remap you'd see even more grunt and still fairly sensible mpg too.

Thanks, funilly enough, I have considered this - but just felt the M5 at nearly 1/3rd of its new price represented a lot more "bang for buck", and the 135 had more to fall.

Lower running costs though, so food for thought.

Keep 'em coming.

There's some bizarre suggestions here.

The M5 sounds the best for your needs. Buy it.
