Does it have the engine still in it?.
Wonder how much it's worth.

What a terrible, terrible advert.

But nevertheless - I was at Lotus a few weeks ago and they had loads of such cars being worked on, it was brilliant to see. They are driven all around the world and the engines are fairly straight forward, so it's likely it does have the engine. It's not like the current F1 cars that need 20 laptops to start it smile

Engines are often leased rather than bought. Get the car & possibly the repo man will turn up for the motor; it has happened, apparently.

I think its the old case of 'if you need to ask, you probably can't afford it'

Not always, there was an Arrows F1 car (modified for a Judd engine iirc) on sale a while ago and that had a price.

It was about 100,000 euros.

Surprised it doesnt say;

'no test pilots'
'not for the faint hearted'

and even more surprised the ad didnt start 'Here we have my F1 car, its been my pride and joy for 2 years but its now time to let the old girl go as we are expecting our 9th child and the social are gonna pay for us to get a mini bus'

It's pre 2001, so at least it will be cheap to tax.

Unless they have a lot of history (eg ex-Schumacher car) they often cost less than a new Ferrari. HOWEVER, expect to spend that much every year if you intend to do anything with it. Yes, sad enough not only to have thought about it, but gone into costs of running, transporting, engine leasing etc. It would be completely epic to own one though!

I've got Nick Masons' book at home and in it he mentions driving his F1 car on a track day (DFV powered Tyrrell iirc) for the first time, after a couple of laps he was checking for red flags as it seemed that all the other cars had stopped!

This thing would be a whole level faster!
