Why?

It's 125bhp/litre which is nothing impressive

There are turbo diesels that can do that, bike engines get more then that without a turbo.
It needed torques and horses, a combination not so easily accessible from a screaming N/A engine.

The Veyrons engine isn't impressive due to it's power, it's impressive because it can apply that power smoothly and do so for 20 years!!

Imo i would put it in the middle of a New XJ, the muted rumble would suit it completely!!

Meh, it's nothing special. 4 turbo's to get 1000bhp from 8 litres. Sounds crap too.

Something like a well fettled RB26 would be much easier to package, lighter and pack a similar punch.

Thankfully most cars come with this thing called a "gearbox" which kind of eliminates the need for huge torque

I have a german 4x4 which produces more torque at the wheel hubs then a veyron despite having 10th of the BHP

Plus you might need a bit of room for all those radiators
The radiators are the real problem I would say. There are what, 10 in there?
Yeah, but bear in mind it's in the back of the Veyron, which makes it hard to cool anyway, and that it's a nightmare to get air to it without messing up the vital aero. It wouldn't be that difficult to keep that engine cool, it's just that in the Veyron's application, getting the airflow was very hard so it needed a lot of radiators.

125bhp/litre is still a little impressive from any engine, but do bear in mind that the bigger the engine gets, the harder high specific outputs become, and that this is not a service-every-6k or rebuild-after-run engine. Getting that power and over 100lb.ft/litre isn't to be sniffed at either.

Something enormous with AWD and weighs a couple of tons, err a Veyron perhaps.

I'll reserve judgement on that one until the 20 years has passed thanks.

I was thinking it might be good in a Nissan Patrol/Safari, but really what's the point when nutters are building 1500bhp TB48 Patrols already. hehe

My Rover with all the original engine bay for cooling needs and tint the windows so it looks standard. wink

VW Transporter? Would be an interesting race between it and the XJ220 Transit.

How about a Pre-arse estate?

I always thought it would be fun to transplant a Toyota Previa body onto a crashed Lambo drivetrain. It would work with a Veyron too I suppose...

I'd put a veyron engine into a milk float. Mid engined of course. Build a stack of milk crates around the block so that you can't see it from the side.

(Mate of mine did this with a ford V6 engine in the early 80s)

True, but for how long? 3000, perhaps 5000 miles before requiring a full strip-down and re-build?

And does it make nearly as much power? And is it as fast?

Bit of a daft comment tbh, you can get huge amounts of torque at the wheels if you use the correct gearing, from just about any engine, but it doesn't mean it's useable.
I'm quite impressed by his 4x4 since it puts out more torque at the hubs than a veyron puts out at the hubs. It must be some 4x4
