Now how long until the "Don't like stickers/anything non-Audi grey/It looks chav" brigade turn up?
I'm not a fan of Porsche or 911's and the endless variations make me want to puke, but at least this variation has some gizmos and graphics that make it identifiable. I especially like the side sticker model ID.Now how long until the "Don't like stickers/anything non-Audi grey/It looks chav" brigade turn up?

A little harsh perhaps, Beefmeister drives a truckload of supercars...
That's great, but the terms he's using mean nothing whatsoever (other than to him) - they're part of a long, tired cliche...It's not uncommon with people who drive cars and try to express their thoughts either - Evo magazine disappeared up it's own arse YEARS ago talking about 'nuggety' handling (like nuggets of what?) and allsorts of other terms which are almost entirely meaningless...
Let's talk 'analog' too - that 911 has PASM - electronic damper control - hardly 'analog' is it??? It might not be the 'Eurofighter' level of intervention that a 599GTO has, but it's NOT analog - nothing made in the last 15 years is, really...
It's also a massive cliche to keep talking about "the last..." of anything - there's always something better to come - always - which covers my point from the PoV of those who've spent a tonne on a 3.8 and are thinking 'oh st' too
p.s. lovely car - it's just not the 'last of' anything, really...
Enjoyed that article and the first few posts... sigh...
@ JohnPeat if i need an example of how to make a tit of myself on a forum i'll come back here and read your posts again. Using analogue and digital as an analogy for whats taking place in the automotive world is bang on and easily understood.
What was that sympathy s*hit someone was talking about, pathetic. This site makes my piss boil sometimes!!!

Indeed ...... a Porsche isnt for everyone ( thank god )
For who is it then? Only for agressive drivers,
always rude in the way they overtake you,
always trying to show their so-to-say superiority.
I love speeding, but there is a way to overtake "politely", without howling and overdoing it.
And they are NEVER EVER polite. Not only on the road; they consider everyone else as less than nothing; even Ferraris are s:censored"t for them; I've heard several say so.
Anyhow, why does the Belgian dealer consider me as not good enough to answer to? I'm not ugly, poor, dirty, and I do own 4 cars, so I could I suppose afford 1 Porsche!
Oh well, the make is already so ugly: in French it's the feminine of pig. No wonder they made a Le Mans racing one! A certain sense of humour perhaps, but it was still uglier than the others...
I only like the 904GTS and Carrera GT. All the others are bland and piggish! With an engine sound like a tinplate German toy of the Fifties.

Ah! AT LAST a new Porsche.
Always the same old shape, sort of squashed beetle.
Sort of piggish front view, and a monstrosity rear view.
And managing to get a bit uglier each time.
Even inside always with its incomplete dials!
And everyone isn't capable of driving it.
I saw one leave the shop in Brussels, and come back a hour later on a trailer, hardly recognisable.
Also, I have never met a sympathetic Porsche driver; they are always looking at you as you were less than nothing, and yet it's only a question of money. I thought they were car-lovers, but no, they are just snooty.
Anyhow, I wrote years ago to the Porsche dealer in Brussels for a catalogue.
They didn't even answer; how could they know if I can afford the car or not?
No, they are a clan, they don't want me, and I don't want them!

Well, as a Porsche owner who has met a few other Porsche owners, I can honestly say that your presumptions are wide of the mark and perhaps say more about you than them.
I didn't want to be aggressive, but anyway over here, in Belgium, the Porsche owners are nasty. And as I said, even the Porsche dealers.
BUT, perhaps I could say the same thing about... Belgian drivers on the whole!
I must tell you this story:
When I was about 20, around 1966, the miniskirt, etc.,
there was once a BRITISH WEEK in the Belgian capital Brussels.
With friends, we went about interviewing people just for fun, with a small tape-recorder.
Then we suddenly "fell" on an English policeman.
We asked him "What do you think of Belgian drivers?"
Well, instead of answering straightaway, he put his hand on the microphone and
asked for who we were doing these interviews.
We said "oh, for ourselves, just for fun...".
He then answered clearly:
"I think Belgian drivers are mad".

I think those that are so bitter towards this car that they need to express it rather than just show apathy it shows some very deep character flaws. geoffracing said:
I love speeding
Ah. I see.So it's you we all have to blame, then, for speed humps / pinch points / needlessly low speed limits / scameras.
Back on topic, I just love this GT3 4.0. Love the way it looks. Love the way it sounds. I'm also rather fond of the fact it's got a stick shift as well. In these days of Citroen Picassos sporting paddle shifts, it's such a refreshing change to have a rear-driven, rear-engined, 500bhp car with a manual 'box.
Saw the Harris interview, just read the Evo article and now this. This one iteration of the 997 seems like it's gotten more talk then the 458 and MP4-12c combined. It's about time Porsche built the GT3 right. And then to only sell 600, just keep building them as the orders come in and stop annoying the rest of us.

Perfection. Keep your 458s and MP4-12Cs, this is a real driver's car, and probably the last.
Is this the last true analogue car in an increasingly digital age? I think so...
This is a brilliant shot...

Actually if you read the reviews they say it's a better road car than the normal 3.8 RS.
Car reviews are marketing driven and I wouldn't take notice what journo types say.Edited by Beefmeister on Friday 10th June 11:53

Do you find people driving other marques just as rude?

Digital v analogue... what a joke of a discussion.
Its called progress. Do you people also mourn the loss of the 1bhp horse-drawn carriage? Now THAT was analogue...
You can substitute it with you doing all the work or the car doing all the work, if that helps. Its called progress. Do you people also mourn the loss of the 1bhp horse-drawn carriage? Now THAT was analogue...
