giggity, Zing Leisure LTD 01708 386 000. I spoke to a lady called Sue. I'm gonna build my case email to send to them in the next couple of days. I think I'll approach it from the "you're hiring dodgy, threatening clampers who have no right to take my money" angle. The store manager who was there at the time wasn't interested either.

Manager was a total tt didn't waste my time with them.

Will get intouch with Zing,

EDIT: Spoke to Zing, she didn't have very much to say, just that she is unsure why all the numbers do not work and the reason I got clamped is because I left the site. I told her (Sue) that being forced to pay £120 in CASH as his card facility does not work is not on.

She said she would call me back but didn't seem to get much else from them.

Called BK head office and it went to the voicemail of Laura. I am waiting for her to return my call so I can follow this up

beefandfish would you come to the meet?

Thank you.

It doesn't surprise me that i find out this is Gants Hill BK. The clampers there have been nasty for years. I used to regular go to the Hein Gericke store next to it (when i was on 2 wheels) and the first thing they ask you is where you've parked.

Just read the whole thing - am game!

When though?

Just one other thing - he's allegedly Nigerian or whatever and claims to be a student?

Has anyone considered he's here illegally? Maybe the police would be interested if he were an illegal immigrant or perhaps the UK Border Agency. At the very least it's worth adding to the pot.

I hate these people too.

He may be working outside his Visa allowance. If you think about it - you might be restricted to 15 hrs per week by a Visa - so actual time working is probably less than 15 hrs attending to cars.

I love it when the police hide behind the 'it's a civil matter' line. It's pathetic.
Yes, who'd have thought that they have to operate within the criminal law. Shocking.

If he's a student then he can't work - it's a student visa, if indeed that is the case, assuming he is a foreign national.

Wouldn't surprise me though.

I also share everyone else's cynicism with the effectiveness of our Government agencies.

Can any BiB drive an unmarked car in and leave it parked? That would be fun to observe.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/contact/report-crime/

To report immigration crime, you can phone Crimestoppers anonymously. Calls from landlines in the UK are free. You will not need to give your name or personal details when you call. Alternatively, you can email us. Please include the name of the town or city where you suspect the crime is happening (for example, Croydon), or the postcode, in the email subject line or title.

We will pass your message on to our local immigration team in the appropriate part of the country. Where appropriate, they will investigate and take action.

That was my initial hunch but I have no proof yet. I was going to try and covertly get a shot of his face and match it up to the pic on his SIA card. I suspect one guy who actually has a valid licence has made duplicates of his card to give to a couple people so they can all go around clamping (people who may not have UK papers). It's all theoretical right now, but the whole experience was too fishy for me not to want to look into it.

I actually joked to a friend that I would love to get this guy deported. If he is a student, and doesnt have the right to be working these hours, home office WOULD love to hear about it. Man, getting him deported would be thee sweetest revenge!

Thursday evening, 1930.

Otherwise I am away all weekend which is when you'll probably want to go.

Wonder if any BiB will show up because of the potential fracas/ vigilante feel of things biggrin

BTW - am not advocating any violence - I can just see people getting nervous when a gang of people show up biggrin

So you are all going to meet in the car park where the guy got clamped? Then try and avoid getting clamped?
