Im not sure but i think you might find wooden steering wheels are illegal these days because they can splinter in the event of a accident.
Errr... no

Bit different when it comes to type approval though. Small manufacturers have to put all sorts of random crap on their cars before they are allowed to sell them.

if i recall correctly, wasn't it the boss of Toyota at one of teh big Car Shows a few years ago that was quoted in his speech about the future of the car industry "in 20 years time there will only be 4 or 5 parent car manufacturers, and one of them will still be Morgan!"

or something like that - probably in Japanese too.

great car though .... is this classified as a Bike or a Car? (thinking is it an affordable thing to bring over here scratchchin

My thoughts exactly, I think it is classified as a car, but from over here the good news is it has a small engine and low (ish) power so you wouldn't get hit too too hard on the tax. A trip to Phang Nga or the Cameron Highlands would be a hoot!!!

So lets see if i understand this

Morgan a company for famous for V8 sports cars produces a car with 2 cylinders and a wheel missing, this is great

Porsche a company that has alot of 4 cylinders in its history is planning on producing a 4 cylinder car and this is terrible

I don't understand
Duh! No, you really do not understand do you ! The firm has been going for more than 100 years owned by the same family..

The very first Morgans were 3 wheelers.

And lets not forget that at regular speeds the new three wheeler is faster than a Boxster ! And given the design of the thing, 60mph will feel like 160mph !
No really i don't understand

This car needs a wooden steering wheel!
Honestly no car wants or needs a wooden steering wheel! Unless you always wear gloves, leather, suede or alcantara are the only materials that should be used for the rim of a steering wheel.

Two of these are on my lottery list. One in Sopwith Camel colours and one in Red Baron livery depending upon my mood for the day!

Laughed my head off its shoulders at that. . what a joyful way to begin a wet Thursday.

Must say though in partial defence..the colour pictured does not do the car justice, it is simply beautiful in the dark green. If ever there was a correct and incorrect colour for a car, this has to be it.

( I think this is what is meant by a thoughtful opinion nickythesaint )

One of my enduring motoring memories was following a Reliant Robin in the snow - a very difficult drive in a three-wheeler when the snow gets piled up in the middle of your lane.
I would have paid to see this.

I love it.

Not really up to speed with Morgans History, doesn't stop me loving the fact they are putting out something diffrent, affordable and interesting. I even like the idea of the pin up girl & the shark mouth decals goes to show they are not taking themselves to seriously.

Long live Morgan, It would have probably been just as easy to keep adding zeros the the price of the Super sports, make it out of pure unobtanium with a thousand BHP and they will only sell 1 outside of the UAE.

If I had the 35K to spend on a toy like that I would do it in a heart beat.

To those hating on the Morgan, I guess you're entitled to your opinion.

The thing about it that makes me so happy though is what it says for the diversity of car design. Love or hate the lines, it's something TOTALLY different! And in the current era of identikit cars, designs neutered by crash regs, pedestrian protection regs and bland, focus group led middle-of-the-road marketing it is fantastic that something so insanely bonkers can still exist.

The Morgan also utterly rubbishes every pseudo-retro design we've had in recent years - the new mini and its ilk, the americans (Mustang, camaro etc.), the Fiat 500, the new beetle - with a display of unashamed and uncompromised nostalgia.

Not every! The Mustang has always been a big car so nothing has changed there, it's not much heavier and has the most powerful engines and best handling it's ever had all for rather less, I would imagine, than a pro-rata Mustang cost in the 60s.

Valid points. I was thinking more in terms of the visual design language than the overall ownership proposition. The Mini is probably the worst offender in the category, having ballooned so much in size.

Good work morgan. Makes a nice change to see something that looked great as a concept, look awesome as a production model.
10 out of 10 from me. I would love to test one of these puppies out and well said in the write-up - it's fast but probably doesn't need to stray from the legal speed limits to be great fun. That's the art of design and packaging in a car like this.

Saw one of these driving through town this morning, wasn't really that impressed and just seemed like a bit of a gimmick and nothing more.

Looks great!

How did they get that through crash regs, or do they not need to?

As well as seeing it go up the hill, I actually drove one of these at the FOS (ok; outside the FOS on the roads) on the Friday.

What a giggle. As the tester says, it's all about the torque, the wheels bobbing up and down and the absolute lunacy of the design. Closest thing to a caterham, but feels fairly different really. Positioning it on the road is hilarious as the front wheels are the widest bit, so get those to the apex and don't worry about anything behind you!
I was amazed how comfy it was with no helmet, and merely the aero screens and a pair of sunglasses. Immediate turn in and felt really stable. No servo on brakes meant a bit of recalibration, but no doubt that they work just fine. There is after all only 500kg plus bodies to stop!

Unless you've got tiddly feet, then driving shoes are advisable, although the morgan guys are looking at ways to make a bit more room in the footwell by using the later 6 speed MX5 gearbox which allows a bit more room. I was in size 8 trainers and anything wider would be a challenge.

Real back to basics, grin a minute. I applaud Morgan!

I got home, popped the picture of the fighter livery up and waited for the misses to get home.
Bought my first euromillion lottery ticket on Tuesday. Wonder what the rationale behind that was!
