'Prettier' 911? Really? Looks wise I'd say the GTR and 911 are on a par. Are you sure you're not confusing 'looks' with 'image'?
See what I mean no to me the GTR looks like ungainly mess with creases and angles going all over the place and add-on looking body parts whereas the 911 look like on cohesive simple yet elegant design. That's not taking anything away from the GTR it obviously is a far faster and more capable car in every measure. But compared to say an Aston, 911 or even an XKR it looks truly cumbersome. it's one of the few cars that looks worse in person than in pictures put it next to a another super car and it looks like a bruiser next to a ballerina.

For me that Top Gear 3 sec time gap is just rather intriguing.
The Mac was honed at the test track, so there should be no wonder where the lap time came from. had it been slower than the 458 or any of its other rivals then i'd imagine serious questions could have come up then!

the GTR is a rather bulky generic Japanese effort that will quickly fade historically when the next one comes along.
or like its Skyline bloodline, they could become more desirable as they age? (i doubt it however, but theres hope!!) i'd love an R32 now, but will always refuse to chav it up!!

i like the GTR and think they look better in the metal than in pics i've seen of them. but you are right, next to any car that is sleek and somewhat of luxury GT car then it looks like a shoebox

Seems they have just answered the second question of the OP, if we are to believe what we read from EVO this month. Wonder if they'll do a re-match with the 458? Be very interesting to see the result.
