That a relative of mine shouldn't "Front" my insurance. If they drive the car now and again and it gets me it for half price, what is the problem?

Anyone care to explain?

Cheers,

John.

rather, ask yourself why fronting makes your insurance much cheaper.

in fairness, if he's 12 his insurance must be bloody pricey.

Because in theory, a more experienced driver is driving the car more often, so there's (in insurance terms) less chance of an accident?

Seems simple to me and something that younger drivers should take advantage of. Hence why I'm asking, what is the downside?

Because it's insurance fraud/theft. You're obviously a high risk (compared to your relative at least). It's no different to me going into a shop, buying a 24" B&W TV but then putting it down and walking out the shop with a 42" plasma screen - I'd be taking something I haven't paid for. Muppet.

the only thing wore than fronting insurance is doing it to drive some fur coat and no knickers 2 door black merc. that would be the act of an absolute rotter.

Well the very fact that the main driver won't actually be the main driver is breaking the terms and conditions that the policy has been taken out under. So if you have an accident the insurer will refuse to pay out.

How would an insurer prove that? There is just no way they could.

Tell you what, go and commit fraud to save a few £s and let us know how it turns out.
