That sounds quite good actually... I suppose it would also be fair to assume the price of batteries will drop as they get more widespread. I wish reports like this would go and interview garages about what the maintenance of them entails, is it me or is it still just unknown/press releases?
They will almost certainly drop, but the rate at which that will happen is very uncertain.

The big thing that many people don't realise is that a 10 grand battery pack doesn't suddenly become worthless at the end of its useful life in a car, it's still got a lot of valuable raw materials in it and it's still made of relatively high energy density cells that can be used in other applications.

I think this is the first electric car I've seen as a viable proposition (although I haven't really paid much attention to the matter either). My concerns, as the average car buyer, still reside with the used car prices/maintenance at high miles/cost of replacement batteries though... For someone like me who doesn't want/can't afford to buy new cars, will this be a viable proposition in 10 years time?
Exactly the same can be said about the current brand of diesels which are of the habit of choking their DPFs and dropping swirl flaps down their bores along with stting the fuel pump at the first sight of petrol

That's a good point, looking at the bigger picture today's conventional cars also have a lot of possibly expensive maintenance ahead... I guess I'll stick to my 20 year old Golf for now!

It seems to do it in about eight seconds, which is hardly "ages".
