I like in the lights of cars when they have the car name in them. R8 is one of them. Nice little detail.

+1 for the Barchetta door handles.

Always used to love the backend of mine, that pert little bum and the four lights.

Maybe not quite in the spirit of the thread, but has anyone noticed what happens when you pull up behind a 1-Series BMW in traffic?

The concave tailgate turns the reflection of your car upside down!

And any sqaure inch of a Lamborghini Countach is a special detail to me!

I'm just not seeing that one, you'll have to point it out to me because I'm no doubt missing the obvious.

The headlight, has a little plastic piece with R8 etched onto it, sort of like the VW mentioned earlier. I would post a picture, but the colours created by my polarising filter has hidden it.

Someone mentioned this to me once. With the Audi S8 and S6 using the V10 engine, they each have 5 LED running lights on each corner, showing the number of cylinders.

It's great that you had a Barchetta, but how did you not realise that:
1/ Barchetta - "little boat"
2/ The ridge under the front licence plate is supposed to be the bow wave
3/ The swage line is supposed to ape the flow of water down the side of the boat.

(But then Fiat ruined it all with the face-lift...)

Love the door line of the Mazda RX-7 FD. One of the simplest, most elegant pieces of modern car design.

You beat me to it. No idea it was there until it was pointed out to me... nice touch.

I think I heard somewhere that they were designed to match the massive fans underneath them?

Also, bit of detail that's not so nice, the door line on a Mk1 Audi TT. It juts out from the natural sill line:

Think it was something to do with side impact strength.

I also quite like the "stripe" that runs along the side of an E39 5-series, going through the door handles. I particularly like the way the wide wheelarch interrupts the line briefly:

Never really noticed that before. But you are right!!! And yes, a damn fine looking car (when not wearing a hideous body kit). This one looks nice though, even with the splitter and wing. smile

Corrado door mirrors look so beautiful and it seems allot of manufacturers would agree. Been used on the Mclaren F1, most TVR's in the 90's and the Noble M12 smile

And the Corrado spoiler of course biggrin

in my corsa vxr,
how the dials sweep round when you turn the key in the ignition.
theres an led under the rear view mirror that illuminates the centre console at night,
also an aircompressor built in the boot, so if you where to get a flat tyre you could use the tyre weld, pump it up and continue.
also love the diamond cut alloys

little things that personally i would expect in a more high end/expensive car

On the subject of keys:

BMW's folding key for their 'airhead' bikes was a neat idea.
