RE: Driven (Just A Little Bit): Ginetta F400
Discussion
This car looks great in the skin, and sounds really good when driven hard
It does feel special enough, from looks and sound, to be seen as something of a cheap exotic... certainly more special looking than a TVR or Porsche to me anyway.
I wish Ginetta the best of luck. If I had the money, I'd certainly be test driving one and would have one if it ticked the right boxes!

20% down, £900 a month for two years and a final balloon payment!
I don't get people buying cars like this - if you can't afford it why hock yourself to hi heaven. Only a car.
And 68k for that!! Er No.
Like the G40 proper Ginetta racers.
And I don't get why somebody would want to lock up all of their capital in a depreciating asset - live and let live, not everybody is the same having a loan on a car does not mean that you couldn't afford to buy it outright BTW - god knows where this affordability concept comes from!I don't get people buying cars like this - if you can't afford it why hock yourself to hi heaven. xactly - yep - pay WAY over the odds for something that will be worth Shed load less as soon as it rolls out the Door - I PITY THE FOOL hahahaha
Way over the odds - that needs some defining. Check out the MB website on some of their finance deals, they look pretty reasonable. If you use an actual financing agent, you can actually get a very good deal indeed with your finance - you might have to pay £1 or £2k above list, with only a fraction of the capital cost - why wouldn't you? Even from a pure liquidity perspective, it's not an unreasonable thing to do let alone taking into consideration how else you could employ your capital in terms of investment! One thing that Ginetta seems to be exuding, is confidence! They seem to be taking bold but not OTT steps into delivering a product and you can really believe they will deliver.
The successful race series helps this IMO. I think the 'F400' will be another cracking car and pretty much the right car for the right price.
Another thumbs up for Ginetta!

0-60 times are a crock, with no concept of repeatability - due to driver skill, tarmac, humidity, tyres, car reliability......... The list goes on.
The reliability issue of 0-60 sprints is one I think more and more about with ever heavier cars, with higher BHP, complex DCT, and grippeir tyres. One reason buying a ex-press car is asking for trouble.
1/4 miles times or in gear accleration times are far more usefull in the "real world", as both largely reduce the sensitivity of the repeatability issues with the resultant times. Rant over!!

Ginetta seem to almost understate their 0-60 times. With just over a tonne and 300 odd bhp i'd expect a near 5 second 0-60.
Check TVRs with similar weight and power.I'd say sub-5 seconds to 60 is more than likely on a 300bhp Ginetta.
Anyway, it's all a bit by the way. Either way, the Ginetta will be very potent with 300bhp.

A lot of people get finance for affordability reasons IMO as in they can't really afford to buy it outright but can afford the XXX per month to buy on finance, a lot more people will have the XXX amount per month, than the XXX total just sitting in an account for a 70k car purchase
