A neighbour outside the comedian's large Oxfordshire home said Atkinson drove like an 'idiot' in the supercar.
The neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: 'The way he drives I've nearly collided with him a few times. When he's in that car he's an absolute idiot.'
Do you think this might be one of the neighbours that are complaining about the plans for his new house by any small chance? The neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: 'The way he drives I've nearly collided with him a few times. When he's in that car he's an absolute idiot.'

McLaren is set to take the vehicle to the company headquarters in Woking to 'assess the damage', a spokesman said.
A McLaren spokesman said: .
'We are discussing with his team about bringing it back to assess the damage and look at repairing it. It has a carbon-fibre chassis which is more reparable than normal cars.'
Good news from the article though, as it seems like Mclaren feel it could well be repairable A McLaren spokesman said: .

"As a side note, and of no importance at all, but it may pop up when your on millionaire, Liam from Prodigy brought the guys house, now for sale at 6.5 million if anybody fancies it."
And Liam has an F1 (maybe 2 I heard)...and a PH account
Liam had an F1 - chassis #023 - but sold it about a decade ago. It then went to Paul Stewart, son of famous racer Jackie Stewart. Paul also parted ways with it in 2006 I believe and it had one more owner in the UK who I'm not aware of. In 2009 it changed hands once more and is now in the Franschhoek Motor Museum in South Africa - the collection there belongs to billionaire Johann Rupert. And Liam has an F1 (maybe 2 I heard)...and a PH account

the last F1 sold at auction was chassis no. 065
estimate - £1.1m - £1.4m
Auciton Result - £2.53m
on that basis, I'm pretty sure they'll repair it
Karl
Your point is very sound, but for the record the last F1 sold at auction was #062 by Gooding and Co in August 2010 in Monterey. It sold for $3.575M or just under £2.2M.estimate - £1.1m - £1.4m
Auciton Result - £2.53m
on that basis, I'm pretty sure they'll repair it
Karl
In both cases there were specific factors that contributed to the very high prices that were achieved, but they aren't all that far off of where other F1s are trading for.

Do you think McLaren will sell him a car anymore?
Of course, we can't know what actually happened, but now he's definately got himself a reputation for wrecking McLarens.
I do hope he's alright. As for the car...I didn't like the colour anyway.
Damn it! Scratch that. If Mr Atkinson is discharged from hospital, we should do all car nuts a favour and put him right back in there! Just for the sake of crashing our dream cars.
--NOTICE-- The previous was a joke, I do not intend to attack Mr Atkinson, or any of the characters he has created along the years. Especially Edmund Blackadder The First. Although I'm not so sure about Mr Bean.. Well, anyway, maybe we should pull off a charity stunt instead: Buy him a Mini in which he can traverse safely - or unsafely, if he were to choose so. --END NOTICE--

He's crashed the same car twice... I don't think buying another is on the agendaOf course, we can't know what actually happened, but now he's definately got himself a reputation for wrecking McLarens.

I don't know.. A car nut is car nut. Besides, we've seen the same guy thrash more than one McLaren in the F1 circuits many-a-times. I'm not talking just about British drivers, Hakkinen was the worst nutter. I think he killed about twenty (and almost himself) before he started winning. And I'm Finnish, by the way.Edited by Kobra on Friday 5th August 18:32

What I meant was I assume Atkinson would want his McLaren repaired if possible.Kiltox said:

Oh, so it was the exact same car? I didn't know that. I thought you meant 'the same', as in 'the same model, year, etc.'He might wanna think again before rebuilding it again. This is looking like some bad Ju-Ju..
But you're right, he will probably rebuild it again - no matter the cost. Which is the right thing to do, with these sort of masterpieces.
