ouch, good put down...

I looked at that piccy earlier and thought that it was nice looking, but when you said that about the american living room, i can see it immediately, a couple of layzboys and some too bright 'wood' in front of the tele sipping a drink from the built in fridge.

Yup, trailer park chic!!!
I have to disagree! 'comfort is key' and if I was a passenger in the back of the Merc i'd be pretty chuffed. Americans know a thing or two about convenience and comfort so with both of you picking up the 'American comfort theme' Merc have probably got it spot on. I've seen a couple of these on the road recently and had a couple of thoughts about the look of the car. I could see me driving one around and not getting much more attention from your average 'non-enthusiast' and that would suit me. The Phantom on the other-hand is a pretty bold statement and 'American on the outside'. Now I'm not sure where I'm going with this smile

Maybachs haven't been seen in hip hop videos for YEARS probably because even rappers realize how stupid they look. In the video BMF (Blowin Money Fast) which came out last year, Rick Ross of the label Maybach Music, is rollin round in a Phantom.

And on the Lil Wayne track "Ballin" which came out a couple of months ago, Young Jeezy says rather eloquently (note sarcasm), "I bought a Phantom just to say its black. I bought a Phantom just to take a nap. I'm getting head in the back seat."

Considering this is ostensibly a petrolhead site, why would any PHer under the age of 70 want to be chauffered?! If there's traffic I'll take a motorbike or bicycle or walk, and if its a beautiful B-road, a GT3 RS, Atom, Caterham or something fast and engaging

I'm 19 and I wouldn't mind being chauffeured in traffic. I hate driving in traffic. If it's raining I don't want to be on a bike or walking. I could sit in the back, watch tv, or do some work for Uni quite happily.

+1

I LOVE DRIVING.

But enjoyable DRIVING, not sitting in a traffic jam, being shouted at by taxi drivers etc.

I'd rather be chauffeured in a £2k 20 year old 7-Series, than be stuck in traffic in a GT3

I would take a Maybach over a Bentley, Rolls, or anything else of the sort if I were in the market, but I'm not. Also, for that kind of money, the Maybach does not lend itself to a heritage like the Bentley or Rolls, even though it obviously does have roots in the early 20th century.

However, I would never want one to DRIVE it as it would defeat the point. As a driver's car, I would take an S-Class, V12 variety if given the choice, particularly the S65.

On second thought, if I did want to be driven in, I'd get a 600 Pullman.
