Yes, because the DB9 comes without brakes?
The DB9 has steel discs. Do you know what 4 discs and set of pads for those costs versus Brembo CCM brakes and pads?
No, but I'm willing to bet the 4 disks and pads are not £0, like in your previous statement.

Next!
He never said they cost £0, just implied that the CCM ones cost approx £15k more than a standard steel (sounds about right - wonder what the option cost would be on a DB9, if thet are even an option?), which explains part of the difference in cost between DB9 and DBS. A good point, well made.

Is your real name Andy Pedant?

Yes, how did you know?

Well, your original quote (can't believe I have to quote you here):

JohnG1 said:
The CCM brakes alone cost £15k as 4 discs and 4 sets of pads - I have the same brembo brakes in my car. So that's half of the difference between a DB9 and a Virage covered.

Next!
States that the brakes on the virage cost £15k, so that's 15k extra? Does that not imply that you dismiss the cost of the original brakes?

Tbh it's not your fault, manufacturers train us like this. It's like buying a BMW with vnice big wheels as an option, as an option they cost nearly as much as to buy them seperate, but if you buy them seperate, you still have the original small ones as well...

Nice - but looks like it still has the terrible plastic indicator/wiper storks on that the 9 and the S have. Its the cars biggest let down.

When I was a kid, the mere mention of 'Aston Martin' was enough to get my heart racing. I absolutely adored them, obsessed about them even.
Some time towards the mid 90's the DB7 came out, and I became utterly obsessed with them too, much to the annoyance of my parents who despite having a modest car budget when they went to buy new stuff, would always get at least 3 days worth of badgering to swing by the fancy car dealership in Sunderland. My dad bless 'im, must have been dragged there at least a dozen times despite everything in the showroom being at least 40 grand out of his price range. I remember every one of the times I went there, I can even remember the salesmen, and more importantly the cars themselves. Vividly.

Fast forward a few years, and a few new models, and the unthinkable has happened. I've completely and utterly fallen out of love with new Aston Martin. To me they've become utterly boring. Gorgeous materials all over the place, sounds that make every nerve tingle, and like any Aston every bit of the design should excite. Yet for me, it never does excite anymore because it's become so familiar.
I really, really dislike this facsimile design they've stuck to, for reasons I can't explain. I know that many other manufacturers are equally or even more guilty of doing the same thing - Porsche and Audi most notably I suppose, but it just doesn't seem right with Aston. I know they've always done it, styling cues and designs have always been redone across various models since god was a boy, but the new ones are just so over done now.
A few times now I've seen an Aston and it's taken me a minute or two to work out which one it was because they all look the same. This makes me sad.

I hate to use Clarksonisms, but I'm sure some folks remember from Top Gear a few years ago where "Shall we take the Aston" was mentioned. He was absolutely right at the time. Very little sounds better. These days, for me at least, "Shall we take the Jag" would appeal far more.

Please Aston, do something new.

TL;DR - What Rawrr said.

Exactly my feelings! Even regarding dragging parents to nice garages hehe

I feel they thought they'd captured the perfect blend of winning formula with the Vanquish and then just diluted and slightly changed the recipe each time until it became a bit dull and flavourless.

Come on Aston...it's time you designed something new, instead of panel beating the same car over and over.

It's a very nice car but I don't see the point in it. It should have been a facelifted DB9.

- The Cayenne and Carrera GT doesn't look very much like a 911 either... The core Porsches look alike, as does the core Astons. Jenx is right here, IMO. Please change the record, Aston!

Disagree. There is no better looking car on sale today imo, why change that?

The area they need to focus on is performance.

Whilst i agree that they are all starting to look very similar, they are all similarly beautiful. I love the sound of the new Virage and every time i see an Aston i do pause to appreciate the lines. Mind you everytime i see a TVR i role down the window to listen to it pass.

A question to PH chaps who have driven the thing:

Have Aston been able to liberate any more room in the Virage compared to DB9?

DB9 is cramped and very inefficient space-wise. The Vantage, a smaller car, has more room inside than the DB9...

In terms of driver space? - I'm 6ft 2 and find them totally comfortable

I'm 6'4 and find the DB9 horribly cramped. Tis' a shame. Must be the legs.

I'd love to find either of them cramped, for now I'll stick with my civic diesel, much more roomy, oh yes...

I agree the Astons on sale atm are sex on wheels...but come on, who wants doggy style over and over? Keep the DB9 shape in production if it's so good it's making money...but, IMO, if a car has a new name it should look different...this is just a facelift, they've changed the name hoping it will make them sell more.

Jenx.
