Discussion
Didn;t think it would be long before someone mentioned anything about TVR's, they are not unreliable on there own some are some arn't and it is all down to how well it has been maintained.
Buy a good one and have a huge smile on your face but buy a bad one and it'll be good buy pockets money !

Usually by pub experts. I'm on my third, they've been no more trouble than any other old-ish car I've owned but a hell of a lot more fun.Never had an issue - the only issue was body related after some twunt bumped into the back of it in a carpark.

My personal belief of people that say TVR's are unreliable, are the kind of people that think you can use them as a daily hack, up and down the motorway all day long, getting rep miles on it.
Imo, a car like that is driven now and again, when it feels ready.
In my experience they like the opposite, leaving them in a garage for a few weeks and then just having a weekends use of them isn't good. The more they are driven (and look after) the happier they are, i really don't think TVRs make good garage queens.Imo, a car like that is driven now and again, when it feels ready.

Is there actually any evidence to suggest that RX-8's are 'unreliable'? I'd think that if you pander to their foibles, i.e. drive them properly and keep an eye on the oil, they're no worse than anything else?
Coilpacks go but they are no worse than any new cars, peugeots are far worse for that as are fords and audis and their MAFs are far more problematic. RX8s are very reliable but a bit prone to rust..
