Schnellmann, just invest the cash and buy a proper superbike then mate! :P You're dead right about the superbike acceleration as John McGuinness himself drove one in the last issue of Top Gear and said that it would be close down a twisty road b/w a standard road Blade w/ him on it and a 12C! He drove the Ferrari too but didn't really fancy it. Funny that, considering he's a racer and all that he preferred the more "boring" 12C. I suppose that the increased sensations of acceleration and cornering outweighed any 'emotion' the Ferrari gave him.

Not really a fan of the 458, I suppose I was overly influenced by Harris' review in evo comparing it w/ the GT3 RS. The spider is GORGEOUS however, and would definitely be on my list if my numbers ever came up.

I would love to buy another bike. Unfortunately some years back a dozy pensioner in a Renault 5 brought my biking-career to an abrupt halt. I'm not complaining (I should have been killed or maimed given the speed of the impact) but I did have to promise my wife I wouldn't ride on the road again and now I'm restricted to the (very) occasional track-day.

I'm not so sure. The 911 (993) is actually quite slow (talking acceleration rather than top speed) and is only about as quick as today's best hot hatches. The 12c is just so much quicker. And that is problem. 5 seconds of full acceleration in the 993 (from say 30 mph) leaves me not that far over the Swiss limit but 5 seconds in the 12c would be over 100 mph and into serious trouble (income-related fines, instant ban for anything more than 30kmh over the limit plus I'd be registered in the Swiss "crime register" so could kiss goodbye any hope of getting a Swiss passport)
