This is a very sad quote, you must have been very down "heartened" in the past with these face grinning cars to say such words.

Saw this car at Le Mans, I was on the way down for the race and had just turned off the dual carriageway close to Le Mans and this was parked up with the LNT3 number plate Lawrence still uses. Looked good then, still looks good now, but £150k seems a lot for it.

Spotted the Typhon in Liverpool a few years ago and had to look twice, three times and then a fourth time to make sure it was really a Typhon! Lovely car. It was one of the black ones and I'd literally been reading an artical in Evo magazine about it the night before. Is there much difference between the Typhon and the T440 - R?
I thought the Typhon was intended to be the SC version.
The Typhons were going to be supercharged. There was 3 made, but the orange one had problems with the supercharger, so it was dropped for the other two. The orange one has vanished (in bits from what I have heard) and it is unknown where it is. Of the other two one is owned by a PHer, and the other was/ is owned by the same lady who owned (owns?) this car. I had the pleasure of having a ride in her Typhon and it is a stunning car. Would love to have the money to get it!

This one and another were at Wilton House I noticed. What was the other one then?

Both looked gorgeous. yum

This one would be a good investment for someone with the money to look after it.

Indeed. Legals prevent me saying much else.

As the article explained, the "Typhon" was supposed to have a supercharged 4.2 and sequential gearbox. None of the 5 cars out there however have been built to that spec, they're all N/A engines, with normal gearboxes. I don't think any of them still runs their original engine, I believe one runs a 4.3 TVR Power engine, and there is one out with a RG FFF engine.

So basically, the difference between a Typhon and the T400/440-cars: the latter were build (all beit very limited), the first one never saw the daylight smile

I believe this one is a bit special due to having a different interior, compared to the other 4 cars...

Was an awesome sight seeing all 5 of them lined up at the "TVR at Goodwood" meeting though smile

The Orange one was at Racing Green until a few months ago, and is bought by a PH'er, who's currently running Racing Green's FFF engine in it...

That would most probably have been me. Did you spot a Sag in close proximity? If it wasnt me then it was probably redheaded lass.

Umm. Off topic but a serious question here- whatever happened to the Cerbera speed 12? I think they made one or 2 but I heard they were deemed too fast for the road? Does anyone know of anyone who has owned/driven one? I heard Keith Flint from the prodigy had one but thats probably a load of bull!
Personally think this T440-R is a lovely car, money aside at least it's different! Not a daily driver mind...

I suppose if someone pays £150k for it then it is priced correctly but seems high as I doubt TVR ever going to have the cache of other marques (like Ferrari) to make this that collectable.

Living in Switzerland I rarely see TVRs but my tennis coach just imported a Chimera (from Manchester). I'd forgotten how absolutely wonderful they sound. I had a test drive in the 12c this week and objectively it outclasses the Chimera in every area...but for me the Chimera just sounds so much better.

Hadn't been keeping up with the cars recently, so good to know it's around.

There was a road-legal Speed 12 (in red) but not sure what happened to it.

There is a speed 12 around, but only one. Allegedly Peter Wheeler took the car home one night and decided it was too fast for road use so no others were built.

Keith from the Prodigy had a yellow Cerbera. Not a speed 12.

There was only one Speed 12 until a few months ago, when somebody decided to start building his own. I saw both of them at the factory last year, since then the original one has been sold to the guy that has been building the second one...

It was at Liverpool Airport Easter 2007. Here's some pics I took of it:

Such a classy looking car, and the interior looks beautiful as well. I love the carbon fibre wrapped around the chassis. Even the fuel filler is a touch of class. I prefer the wheels on this one to the T440 in the article.
