Is that Roland Jaekel's car, that was later converted to a targa? I believe it was crashed and damaged beyond repair a few years ago!

Steve,

You have one beautiful GT5S in what must be one of the best colour combo's.

Here's a shot of my De Tomaso's V8 Cleveland now 408 cubes on the dyno.

Always wanted a wide bodied Pantera but will need a new job or a lottery win frown

The only way to improve it would be to return it to stock.
The car is totally stock exterior and interior aside from a colour change. The wing was factory fit from new.
I have done many modifications underneath, making it better and easier to drive, such as adjustable dampers, modified from arms to reduce tramlining, a stock affliction of these cars, a better handbrake system, electronic ignition, and larger cooling fans. Everything I have done improves the car, and how it drives, without changing its appearance in any way.
I was going to post this question yesterday and this post is even more reason to...

Did all of the GTS-5's come with the sticker graphics on the sides? The only one I ever saw in the wild had it way back in the 80's.

Personally, I like the graphics on the sides and I love the big wing. Pantera's are just really pretty, really cool cars.

One interesting thing that I've noticed about these cars (albeit with limited numbers of reference) is that they aren't always cared for like a lot of exotics are. I've seen maybe 6 or 7 of them and at least 4 were pretty beat up.

The side decals were an option, as was the wing. They were hand built, in the truest sense, and several options were available such as decals, wing, interior trim, seat type, engine upgrades, and a choice of three final drive ratios could be specified for the transaxle.
I also know of a GT5 car built with the earlier GTS type narrow body, so essentially De Tomaso, would at the time try to meet any clients order spec.

I ordered my GT5S from new and specified it with every available factory option. One of those options was the side stripe logos. The only thing I saw no point in having was the radio, but I did have the aerial, speakers and fixing kit installed for when I decided to sell......That day still hasn't come 21 years on.....and it still doesn't have the radio because the engine is better to listen to clap

With some home made track silencers that attach to the standard silencers 105dBA days are achievable, contrary to Panteras not being used on trackdays

My dream car. I used to live in Wetherby and back in the late 80s and early 90s the place was frequented by a fabulous black Pantera with wide arches and Delta wing, OLL1L, I would hear it driving into town half a mile away or more but by the time I got to it the owner would be long gone, boy they're loud!

Would give up bits of my anatomy for one.

It must be great to be able to say "I drive a De Tomaso". I remember there was a top gear (i think?) mag feature on people who run supercars on a budget and there was a guy who was a security guard who was running a black Pantera. That was the article that made me obsessed by cars. OP you are a lucky man!
