Whats he doing?
Discussion
My guess would be the road warrior Mundaneo driver has decided no-one may use the outside lane and they must queue like the sheep he is. I'm curious as to how far away from the lane closure this picture was taken. The majority of drivers in this country have a serious problem with understanding the concept of filtering.
Irregardless, straddling two lanes is stupid under most circumstances. I'm sure he checked for bikers before his "guardian of the traffic queue" moment, right?

OT; Geniune question, not being a dick head - are you American? I used to frequent a US Honda forum regularly (not so much these days) and I used to see this "word" there all the time.
No i'm not too much time working with Americans and watching / reading American stuff has obviously clouded my command of the English language. I shall sit in the corner and read the dictionary Simbu said:

Haha, sorry, I wasn't having a dig mate - I was just curious. It's suprising how easy it is to pick up such traits, and it's just the first time I recall seeing it on PH nakulan7 said:
Accident in the M1 yesterday. Outside overtaking lane closed. Man in the mondeo pulls out and straddles both lanes. Smart aleck in BMW who was screaming down the now empty lane brakes behind him.
A lovely example of modern motorway driving in the British Isles.
Poor effort, BMW man.
Poor effort.
It doesn't look like you're central to the lane you're in either
I've watched a n0b decide he can tailgate an ambulance in a similar situation where there was almost gridlocked traffic a crash ahead and no hard shoulder... So I pulled out to block him within milliseconds of the ambulance passing and gave him the 'tosser' sign.. Yes very immature of me but what the hell was he thinking trying to snide his way past hundreds of people. Brownie points to anyone who can guess what manufacture vehicle he was driving.

The whole reason the que is so bad, is because of like the guy in the BMW who barge down the empty 'closed' lane only to force their way in and hold everyone else up who has had the sense and respect for other drivers to filter into the open lanes in good time!!
Who the hell do these people think they are? Good job most drivers don't have their selfish attitude or the we would be in a right mess!
I can understand the mondeo drivers annoyance, but the best thing to do in these cases is to stick like glue to the bumper of the car infront and point blank refuse to let the selfish knobs in. Of course, theres always some clueless person who has no idea, road sense or dignity, who lets the offenders 'bully' their way in.
Then theres the 's who take to the hard shoulder instead of queing?!! I love it when u see them half a mile up the road being invited into the back of a traffic car!!

Seriously? How is that a good idea?Might have been a doctor in his own car? Or another member of the emergency services?
Either way, cutting people up under any circumsatances is not a good idea. Might i suggest you were the tosser in that situation...

This actually doesn't make any sense at all.Who the hell do these people think they are? Good job most drivers don't have their selfish attitude or the we would be in a right mess!
For the same number of vehicles, a two lane queue is longer than a 3-lane queue, and if that pushes the queue back across a junction, it spreads the queuing love out into the local road network.
So BMW-man is actually doing the right thing.
I fking hate amateur traffic police on the motorway.
Drive up to the closure and then merge in turn, like grown-ups, is what people should do.

I may be setting myself up for a whoosh parrot here, but the lane isn't actually closed until it's coned off in my opinion. People are more than welcome to merge early, or at the last minute as they see fit, but must choose between potentially queueing for longer with an early merge, or making a late merge but having to deal with people who take the use of all open lanes as a personal offence. If we all used all the open lanes at all times (obviously keeping left unless overtaking) there would be more space on the motorway; if we had less of the queueing sheep mentality of the above poster then people could quite happily do as they please and simply leave or make a gap in a courteous fashion for anybody who wishes to use the rightmost lanes but is forced to merge by an obstacle.

I'm 100% sure it wasn't as it was a fat pot bellyed scruffy bloke in a black 3 series who I saw lane chopping left and right before the ambulance came about 5 minutes previous Might have been a doctor in his own car? Or another member of the emergency services?
