Ringers no longer have to scour the internet, they just take a regular look on this thread for worthy documents for sale for their next "project" to source, plenty to choose from here and only a click away. Well done gents you are actually helping them out! rolleyes

I would hazard a guess quite a few cars have been stolen as a result of this thread in order to match the documents you have unearthed

The next guy to lose a Lotus Carlton may well be as a direct result of you finding the docs for someone to use.

I understand your concerns Paul but this is why the information is passed on to the Police.

Anyone looking for a ringing kit knows not to buy the ones featured on the thread. Unless they are stupid enough not to realise the registrations will be on the ANPR and DVLA databases. As soon as one passes a camera or a new log book applied for the vehicle the identity is on will be seized.

The first is a cosmetic conversion only so the parts could be from a donor with a blown engine. I fitted a full GTE body kit and interior to my Astra 1,2 Merit back in the 90's. The GTE donor was bought to fit the engine into a Cavalier SRi 130. smile

The second is a full conversion but the engine swap hasn't be declared to the DVLA. Could be stolen ST on 1.2 plates, a 1.2 with stolen ST bits swapped over or simply a lazy gobste who can't be arsed to send a form off.

We have a thread for that...

That's just the sort of thing that pisses me off, Minis, Strange Rovers, Landies and crap like that wearing much older V5's to save themselves 200 quid a year. What a waste of time.

Cars built from shells V5's to be authentic - couldn't care less.

...at least there's a shell this time. rolleyes

Nowhere near enough of the car to keep the registration so lock up your classics as usual.

Hmm. It'd be bloody hard work, but if you can get that shell repaired, and refit it with suitable period components, it should qualify for an age related number still. Wouldn't necessarily be the original one, but if you have the V5C to correlate to it, perhaps they would?
