not a "real" ringer, but an incorrectly registered kitcar, still running on donor paperwork.
if you (lowdrag) are talking about this car...it still comes up on the donor identity at DVLA´s homepage

Am I missing something with these:

The seller appears to have a well established shop selling car parts, but also lists a fair number of V5C's for sale.
Interesting, looks like he buys a few cat S and cat C cars for breaking but makes a couple of quid selling on the V5 rather than declare he has destroyed the car.

Probably not a licensed breaker so can’t buy cat B. Also expect most buyers of cat cars don’t check the condition or paperwork as much as a normal buyer.

Same here:

I saw these the other day and wondered what I was missing...

edit: I know it could be claimed they're selling written off cars for repair, but the descriptions say: "**DAMAGED CHASSIS IS AVAILABLE IF REQUIRED**". I wonder what use-case they're imagining where the V5C is worth a couple of thousand pounds but the chassis isn't required...

It's not just a car. It's a member of someones family that's being taken.

Nothing unusual for someone who has owned it since 1989 for it not to be registered correctly. Original builder didnt probably know what to do. The 'system' was pretty poor with the DVLA in those days and if you built a new car , you just got an MOT and had a visit from a local DVLA bod who then assigned a plate, but most people didnt do it and ends up like this. Had a similar case with a Westfield I bought about the same time. Had it inspected by the local office and just changed the docs from Ford Escort to Westfield and stayed on the original plate.
Its not like the thread states as being a 'rung car'.

As Justin suggested the build pre-dates the system upgrades and updates. So even though it looks like a Sylvia Striker (???) it was built before the points scheme.

Well worth looking out for as there are several new build kit cars running on old Dutton and other identities because whoever built it could not be arsed to pay the £300 test for radically altered vehicles. It makes you wonder if that corner has been cut how many other have been so if you ever come across a kit car like that it's best to walk away from it.

You have to wonder if the people that bh about this thread are maybe the people that ring these cars in the first place

there was an amesty period when SVA came into force...and this is long time ago....all owners had been forced to use this period to update / correct their v5c´s...if you missed that period you are driving around with an incorrectly registered car...fact, and no discussion!!! there isnt a loophole in the law!!

this said: there is still a chance that DVLA allows the car-owner, with enough prove from owners side, to correct the "old" datas in the v5c ...or , if DVLA man /lady doesnt have a good day, they will ask for an IVA test.

The first thing I did when I saw this...

...on a stolen vehicle page on Facebook is...

Logged on to eBay.
Put "Ford RS log book" in the search bar.
Reported ten illegal listings.

...then I shared it with the RS Owners club and others.
