even b4 the 40y mot-exempt thing came into force, a totally modified escort mk1, with spaceframe front end, zetec engine was declared "histroic vehicle" once 30y old.

which, imo, isnt correct....the remains of the original escort arent enough to declare it "histroic"...the car has been modified to a state where major "historic" components are missing, also too many modern parts fitted.
Depends really. Once you're at the stage where modifications to a car are themselves older than some 'historic' cars, no reason it shouldn't count as one.

I sent eBay a freedom of information request asking how many they had sold/brokered on their site and they turned it down.
You send a FOI request to a private company?

Bet that raised a few laughs in customer services.

Advert for a 1972 Range Rover Classic, restored 10 years ago with a Discovery 5 door and a new 200tdi engine.

Is it the small cynic in me that thinks it was restored by adding an old VIN plate?

Okay here's a surprise.

I put "MGB V5C", "MGB V5" and "MGB log book" in the search bar and only got a couple of compete shells.

Well done eBay. About bloody time.

Oh, I spoke too soon...

Time for a little festive fun...

eBay message said:
Good evening.

Are you a sting operation for the West Midlands Police?

The reason I ask is obviously the sale of a vehicle registration document with identity plate is a criminal offense in itself and could be used to change the identity of a stolen vehicle making you an accessory to the theft. I was going to click "Buy it Now" and send a couple of colleagues from the West Midlands Constabulary round to have you arrested.

But if you are already the Police that could have been a tad embarrassing.

All the best for the festive season LK
I'll let you guys know when I get a reply. hehe

Yeah but this is the UK, you'll get a suspended sentence and 100 hours picking up litter so probably worth the risk.

That's a shame, as it looks quite a nice car, but not worth a carrot without the correct registration
