Here's a good one...

...can you spot it?

I'm thinking about giving a Petition another go. This time making a simple engine number check part of the MOT and if the number does not match the DVLA database (V5C) or it has been removed, tampered with or damaged an instant fail and the vehicle ordered off the road.

What do you guys think?

Reg plate is too old for stated production year....... It could be a 'cherished plate' though? I don't have enough mini knowledge to know whether body features match age redface
Listed as saloon (not convertible)?
Close, but it is a private plate.

Registered 1983 Mk4 Mini but is a later (1985-2000) Mk5 shell.

Spotted this gem on a Facebook group.

I hypothesise that the only thing left of this "GMC" is the Can, and the rest is a cunningly disguised, illegally registered Iveco Daily. Very nicely put together, but illegal nonetheless.

I've seen this a few times before. Usually a Morris Minor shell on a Range Rover or Suzuki chassis. People don't realise (or they do and hope they can get away with it) that it's the chassis number that is retained not the body.

One for this...

I think you need to get out more.
...and that's been true since before Lockdown. hehe

I remember contributing to this thread along time ago. Why can't Ebay be held to account for these? They are easy to spot.

When reported are they usually blocked in a timely manner?

I've just reported this one...

I have made this point to eBay several times. They are aiding and abetting the theft of a motor vehicle (or other vehicle related crimes, potentially as much as manslaughter) with every identity they have sold that has gone on to be used to ring a stolen vehicle.

Accessories after the fact if the identity is bought after the the vehicle is stolen.

Manslaughter - if the ringing kit is used to hide the identity of a write off that has been cut and shut that fails, killing anyone when it does.

Wrong thread...

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

...but it looks like it qualifies as a rebody to me. Like the Triumph based Tribute cars, Reliant Scimitars with T'Bucket bodies, Range Rover with Land Rover bodies etc, etc.

Reminds me of the NC or Pilgrim nose with a Burlington rear but so long as the original Bond chassis hasn't been altered it should be okay. smile

And the Bond Equipes were of course re-bodied Heralds.
Mk2 Triumph Vitesse. There may have been a couple of Mk1 1600's but don't know off the top of my head. My first car was Mk1 Vitesse and when I learned to weld restoring the old girl someone suggested a Equipe body would have been easier. smile

Lock up your escort RS1600s....

(Pic incase eBay do remove the listing)

Sad to see the world hasn't moved an inch from the start of this thread. Someone is about to get their pride and joy taken from them facilitated by eBay allowing criminals to sell identities.

rolleyes

Anyone else wonder why we are doing this. Have a look at the number of Land Rover ringing kits for sale and the number of stolen Land Rovers. eBay are literally aiding and abetting the theft of these motor vehicles and/or are accessories after the fact.

Late 80's early 90's Mini with the identity of a 1970 850 posing as a Cooper.

Is it still receiving stolen goods if it's won in a spam contest?
