RE: Koenigsegg Agera R Nails Acceleration Records

this is fast too, and cost a lot less
Golf r36 Turbo 4motion 1/8 mile 6,6s and 185km/h on that point with 700hp

he now has it up to 927pk/1084Nm...guess those video's with 700hp wasn't enough.

WTF! Ok mea culpa. Didn't occur to me that they would have over 300% price inflation over 8 years. Nice.
Being serious, can someone in the know please explain why the price of the latest car is three times as much as the CCX? I know the Artega has more power and improvements but if you look at Ferrari and compare the 360 from 2003 with the current 458 the leap in performance is massive (8 min 9 sec lap of Nurburg ring vs 7 min 27) but the 458 is only about 25% more expensive than the 360.OK it might not justify the 850k price tag but it's just a case of whacking the boost up and away you go..this car is supposed to be easier to drive than the previous cars, but I suppose that's a relative term like saying it would be easier to fight David Haye than klitschko
I'd say the increase is warranted if you have the funds though, the car being roughly half of what you'd pay for the Veyron (before Bugatti's insane upkeep). These records also shows an obvious refinement in tech and just by looking at it there's a jump in quality in the internals as well as interior/exterior (glad to see they got rid of that awful front 'bumper' panel gap!).

Give or take one or two years Koenigsegg have been selling these at a break even or a loss through the years. A 300% increase in price on 15 cars would then only land them a maybe a couple million pounds in profit annually. The drastic inflation is down to Christian entering the venture with an image of the CC concept as a cost effective, "practical", relatively high volume supercar. As late as 2005 there was talks about increasing volume to 25 cars annually which was never going to happen for this type of production. So, cost = operations + slight profit = actual value of the car.

I think that is the general problem for such small-scale producers where they can't recover their development and fixed costs on such small volumes without asking sky-high prices. I've read (but can't confirm) that the cost per Veyron (being presumably all development, marketing and manufacturing costs) was around €5 million.I'd say the increase is warranted if you have the funds though, the car being roughly half of what you'd pay for the Veyron (before Bugatti's insane upkeep). Also reminds me of the (possibly apochryphal) story of a friend of David Brown asking him to sell him a DB 5 at cost, at which DB told him he couldn't possibly charge him that much!
For a modified production car, that is still fully road legal and standard inside - aircon, stereo etc, this Switzer modified GTR takes some beating: 0-163.7mph in 9.01s and the owner is hoping 0-300km/h comes up in under 12.5 secs, notably faster than the Agera, and all for around $250k. This car is hitting 200km/h in around 6 secs, so should be faster than the 720bhp Ultima to 100mph too (and 0-60mph on street tyres has recorded 2.6s).

That's excellent. The question is, will it beat this Golf though?http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/nissan-gtr/2360...

How does it perform spinning really close to other cars?

And is it art and/or the greatest engineering since the toaster?
IS IT????????????

Great story and quite telling, true or not. Whatever you end up paying will likely be grossly lacking in regards to their talent and vision, since the boutique supercar markets conditions dictates you'll have far, far greater odds making money selling lemonade to passing cars by the side of the road... than actually building the cars passing you by. No messing there. Acceleration is surreal, three runs in succession, no helmet, braking one-handed from 200mph - impressive!Tom73 said:

Hi have not doubt that it will beat the Golf. The Golf's CD is 0.32 versus the GTR's 0.27. This will have a big impact on how the Golf performs at higher speeds. Also is the Golf standard inside or has it been stripped out? The GTR is standard, with all luxuries working. As for spinning cars - that's down to the driver more than the car. http://youtu.be/NMnRml-hX3g

The Agera R managed 0-200mph in 17.68secs and 200-0 mph in just 7.28secs (making 0-200-0mph in a thoroughly impressive 24.96secs).
sorry to be pedantic, but is that not making an assumption here?doing 0-200 and then 200-0 in two runs does not mean you could replicate this in one go (as in 0-200-0)
Watch this video from Fredrik Hult to really get a feel for the Agera R. The look on his face and the sound it makes it just mind blowing. I thought I had a quick motor but it makes the M5/M6 look very very subdued!

Can someone please answer me this. Over the last month or so virtually every UK mag and website has road tested the Huayra. And the results have been very positive. The Agera R on the other hand has been out for a year now and no one in the UK seems interested in testing it. The only tests I have seen have been by Euro mags and even then they almost always take place on Koenigsegg’s runway, which let’s be honest is not a road test?
So why the apathy towards the Agera R, surely its closest rival will be the new Pagani?
