I'm bloody livid.

Early last week I found a note under my windscreen wiper stating:

"Why do you always park outside our home so we cant!!
You dont even live up this end"

No name or address was given but I can narrow it down to maybe 4 flats.

Fast forward to today and there's a nice long key mark along my rear wing just under the filler flap.

Our road is houses (with driveways) one side and blocks of 4 maisonettes the other (no driveways). There is no allocated parking so it's pot luck where a space crops up and everyone is in the same boat. I rarely get to park directly outside my place. At the time the note was placed my car was parked totally legally and not causing an obstruction.

Random attack? Note writer upping their game?

I'm pondering letting the police know just so it's recorded if it becomes a regular thing and they can maybe take things further.

Not quite sure what I expect in reply, just needed to vent frown

fkers!

You should, I can understand them being annoyed but keying someones car is completely out of order.

I am not precious about my cars, the occasional carpark ding or scratch is expected, but deliberately damaging someone's property is completely out of order.

You should report the damage, and consider parking in that area again with a camera pointed at your car to catch the bd who did it.

Definitely tell the police. Every town in the country has roads like that and you're right, it's legal to park wherever you want on a first come first serve basis. Police, straight away.

Probably the same person I think. It's about what I'd expect as it's a common next step. I'd report it.

If you are still parking there install some cheap long recording cameras in your car. Hopefully you will be able to catch them. Report to the police too.

It's illegal to park on any public highway unless in a designated parking area. Parking on a road with no yellow lines is normally breaking the law if you want to get picky.

If you can see the car from a window in your house then I'd be setting up a web cam and leaving it to record over night to see who is doing it.

Years ago I lived in a town centre - two up two down streets of cottages - and the shenanigans people got up to because they thought they had some 'right'

above and beyond everybody else to park directly outside their house. One guy used to get up at 2 am to move his car to a 'better' position when the neighbour

left for his shift and vacated a more satisfactory spot.Really, truly sad.Cars scratched, neighbours falling out and lots of bad blood.Surprisingly the women

were sometimes worse than the men..("move your car I've got children")

look through the bins till you find something that matches the handwriting! You'll certainly have some evidence then.

I should also point out that I don't always park in the same place either, it's random.

I had a similar situation and watched my car accumulate more and more scratches until it looked as if it might be an arte nouveau exhibition. I didn't care about it since the engine was knocking badly and it was living on borrowed time, so let it continue happening until said engine finally blew up a few months later. It turned out to be a chap in his 60's who, rather than reasonably express his concerns in regards to my parking outside his house-which was not a reserved spot and despite the fact he didn't drive-seemed to genuinely believe that somehow I'd detect his message that he didn't want me to park outside his house; it didn't work, I'd assumed it was young kids without anything better to do.

Sad, sad people. I'd have happily tried my best to park elsewhere had he communicated his concerns in some vaguely normal way.
