Looking at buying two cars... an 07 or an 05 hyundai coupe, any known problems with these cars?

heard they have a real good reputation generally, but is there anything i should look out for?

One thing that was said to me was central locking problems?

would be grateful for the help!

faaaaanks!

Never a problem with mine.

Change the air filter for a cone, though- the standard set-up is VERY restrictive.

Funny, I heard they were awful to drive.

They're ok for FWD budget coupes.

Will never set the world on fire as driver's cars, but they're not horrible to drive.

Seem very reliable. My BIL had an original style one for years (his son has it now) and it never gave any serious problems - He's got the newer style one now and that's been reliable too.

Drive one first, then have an opinion.

Too many folks just repeat what they hear.

I test drove a new 2.0l model in 2005 or 2006.

Cramped, the key from a metro and slow were the lasting memories. Steering was rather vague too.

Well, the OP referred to hearsay, so I posted what I heard.

I want Hyundai to bring the Genesis coupe to the UK - I'd buy one then. Though it's looking like I may end up with an i40 to join the OH's i30.

Not that you asked for opinions on how they drove, but hey...

Drove a 2.0 litre a good few years back.

It drove just like a normal FWD saloon would (i.e. pretty dull, understeer, had to be revved), except you couldn't see out. Perhaps the later ones are better, but I doubt it. Having said that, if you like how they drive go for it. I'm sure most people would say my Stag was horrible to drive. Do I care? No.

I had one for a while a v6 which in my opinion is the only one to have, its nippy, not fast, the engine does sound very good(cross between a vr6 and a boxster and better if it was de-restricted) and i've driven and owned many 6 cylinder cars, looks good, lots of toys. For what it is and how much ther're worth they are a good drive..however..while the gearbox is smooth you are wondering half the time what gear you are in and visibility is not up to much.
I thought it was a nice car but the v6 a bit thirsty.

The solution to that is to look at the indicator on the dash

It's bloody awful; judging the length/width is a pig.

Fuel economy is surprising- I get 38mpg from my V6 (most of my journeys are a gentle motorway run)- I expected 30 at best.

Driven my brothers a few times. Very cramped. I didn't get on with it very well. Don't like the pedal feel and the steering wheel doesn't pull out to adjust. Just couldn't get comfortable.

Also, he's had quite a few problems. EML, ABS light, there's usually some kind of light on the dash.
