The latest p****y trend...

...well it's the first I've heard of it anyway.
Cutting out the catalytic converters from parked cars, in order to "recover" the metals inside. A mechanic friend tells me that he's seen a few of these lately. will earn around £100 per cat apparently.
Just to rub salt into the wounds, on the cars he's seen the s haven't exactly done a neat job either, leaving sensors, wiring looms and other bits and pieces damaged. Some customers have also had to pay a surcharge because an old unit isn't available to exchange for the new one they've had to purchase.
Anyone else heard of this/come across this?

So much so that the latest models have a guard covering the cat
shocking really, do you think this will become commonplace for new cars?So much so that the latest models have a guard covering the cat
Maybe by 2050, the government will have worked out a way of ensuring that the buyers get imprisoned or fined if they happily buy 500 sawn off cats or 50m of signalling cable from someone who doesn't look like they work in a service centre or for a train company... or in fact works and pays taxes.
