Seen lightly disguised ones on the M6 for about 9 months, full production version at the Paris Motor Show in Sept 2010 and one on display at the Royal Cornwall Show in June this year, they've been pimping them around for ages

Yes sorry, Deffinately not the first few hundred to see them. There were 2 on display in Cardiff bay about a month ago when they had the powerboat racing on. I sat in the 3 door. Nice bit of kit. Had a bit of a red faced moody salesman snapping at me when I pulled the tailgate shut. Apparently theres a button for that, and i'll "upset" the system if i "swing" from it. My next question wound him up even more. "So these aren't built for off roading then?"

Yep, that's what they are telling everyone.

It's what they told the hundred or so of us that went to the evening "launch event" in Nottingham two weeks ago, when we took 20 or so Evoques out for a test drive, and I think there were other similar "launches" throughout the day. That might have been the second day too.

I believe that they were then doing a "roadshow" of these "launches" after Nottingham and they may well have done some beforehand.

It is probably fair to assume, then, that there are huge swathes of the UK population who have seen the car. In fact it might not just be in the UK and I would be unsurprised to hear that Colonal Gaddafi has been seen running around in one somewhere outside Tripoli. Land Rover has probably told him he is one of the first people ever to see the car.

Err... they were on TV, and I've regularly seen two parked on the road near where a good friend of mine lives. I thought they'd already been officially unveiled?!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I and several thousands of others saw and sat in them at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in early May. Plus many other events around the country since (and probably several before), plus just about everyone in the LandRover network who've been driving them around for a couple of months, plus the motoring press etc.

Well if you discount the thousands that have seen them on transporters on the M6 and M62 over the last couple of weeks you are probably right.

Doesn't work for me, but I am sure that will sell by the shedload for the school run.
Proportions look wrong, and it all looks like it is trying too hard to be cool in my opinion.
Or the 400 over of us who got to sit in and look round one at the PH breakfast meet at Jaguar a few months back....

Longest 'unveiling' of a car ever - They had a display of them in the local town centre a few months ago, and I saw loads at Gatwick when I was there recently. I've even seen one on the road!

I think they look great though... I'd have one over any other Range Rover (but then I'm no 4x4 fan!)

And most of them will probably believe that they are the first ones ever to see the car...

They have been at various shopping centers all over the country for months (westfield for one).

I dont really like them only because it has range rover on it. It doesnt resemble a range rover one bit. It should have been aimed at a freelander sport or something of the like (like the RRS is to the FFRR).

There were 15 on convoy through Chobham a few weeks back. Having seen one at the roundabout and told my wife how it was the new one, just launched, first time I had seen one on the road, etc, I proeeded to point out the second, and wondered if they were together.

By the 8th or 9th I had stopped pointing them out.

Saw a car transporter full of these on the M5 yesterday morning so you may well be one of 1100 people to see it first wink

Looks good though!
And I saw one on the M40.

I'm not a hige fan personally. But JLR are a business and make things to sell, not just stuff that PHers like but dont buy!

laugh the power of the marketing script!!

One of the most pre-launch promoted cars in years. They've been doing the rounds for months at various events - some of the dealer training took place not far away so they've been on the roads here for weeks as well.

Yep, a stand full of the at the Game Fair several weeks ago, and one right up my arse round a roundabout last Saturday. I do hope that they don't go the RRS route...

we went to the Singapore launch a few weeks ago ... i really quite liked it, nice build quality and look etc, but teh wife was less than impressed, she felt that it no longer had the "feel" of a range rover (She still rates our old P38 as the best car i have owned) and that it just felt like any other jap soft roader.

The drive was very nice though, we had the 2 liter petrol here and it hustled along quite nicely!
What's the list price in Sing John?

I was at Burghley Horse Trials with the family at the weekend and Land Rover were there with a 5 and 3 door. Got to say I do like the look of them and the interior is a very nice place to be smile

Having said that they start at 28k so a bit out of my budget... I did wonder what the list price of this black one would be with 19's, full leather dash, panoramic roof, nav/bluetooth etc etc

a cynical marketing ploy, diluting the brand, losing some of the core customer to appeal to vacuous footballer types who love a bit of brand..'Ive got one of those RangeRovers innit, like what Posh drives'..
You clearly have absolutey no idea what you are talking about.

they had three of them, two five doors and a 3 (which in my opinion is much nicer!)

very well designed and built car, in my mind looks like a cross between a RR sport and a freelander

feel rather priviliged to have been there!

what are your opinions on the car, would you buy one, do you think its a real RR or just a souped up hatchback?!
How odd. I saw one driving in Berkhamsted yesterday morning - a white one.
