I'm off to do the on road/off road test drive (that a few on here have already done) on Sunday. Quite looking forward to it as we are in the market for a smaller SUV/4x4 thing.

Saw some on the back of a trailer this morning on the way into work.

They look far to fussy. Are they not associated with posh spice? For that reason alone i will avoid them...

Give me a Toureg any day above and over a over marketed/Hyped pointless wannabe 4x4

just got back from work which today involved catering for the launch of the new range rover evoque.

i was one of 100 people there to see the car before anyone else in the uk!

they had three of them, two five doors and a 3 (which in my opinion is much nicer!)

very well designed and built car, in my mind looks like a cross between a RR sport and a freelander

feel rather priviliged to have been there!

what are your opinions on the car, would you buy one, do you think its a real RR or just a souped up hatchback?!
Erm, no you weren't. They had these on display near my work about a month ago! I had a good look round, sat in, etc. Nice cars.

Except around Aberdeenshire wink there was a convoy of these things driving around a few weeks ago and was behind one (not intentionally) driving through Peterculter, just looked like a squashed Range Rover/Freelander, a bit silly IMO hehe

Personally, I'd prefer something like thistongue out

One of them was parked outside my house last week (on a 61 plate). It looked Ok, I felt the proportions were out a bit.

Very odd colour scheme though. Red car, dark tinted windows, white roof and black alloy wheels...

The mish-mash of colours didn't help it.

Saw 6 or 7 of these being driven on the M56 about 3 weeks ago - assumed they had already been released. Did think it was strange to see so many on the same stretch of road in such a short period of time though.

My friend who works for JLR has one for 4 or so months now.

We went to the tip in it a couple of weekends ago, despite some thinking it is small on the inside, you can get a hell of a lot of hedge cuttings and bits of tree in it (With the seats down).

But you should have seen the face's of the people at the tip, they were shocked that:
A) we have one
B) that we had the audacity to use such a "Pretty" car to do a tip run in.

Will these new Evoques address the issue of Land Rover/Range Rover being the most unreliable brand for six years in a row though?

It's been doing the rounds for a while now, we even had one (albeit pre-prod) at our Sunday Service in March

Personally, I like them.

Oh I do hope not.

For the first two months I owned my Range Rover I never needed to wash it or buy my own coffee.

I'm sure if they can sort Jaguar out, then they can sort the rest of the company out. Eventually.

Looks crap.

Just buy *a car*

Unless you want to go off-road, then buy a decent off-roader that can get a bit roughed up.

Audi all-road stuff makes loads more sense for people who drive into a field once in a blue moon on hard ground to go camping hehe

Then again I just drive "off-road" in my Z4. Only crap drivers need 4x4 stuff to get places biggrin

Maybe.

Reminds me though, the glove box flies open if you so much as look at it funny, the hands-free is on the blink and there's a bolt missing from the fuse box panel. The car also needs washing. Now where's the number for Stratstone....

Might buy one for my wife, quite like them.

I am not a footballer, she is not a wag. It's just a quite nice looking lump of metal wink

About 3 weeks ago, I was traveling through Wollaton and Trowell in Notingham. As I was waiting to turn right at some traffic lites, 5 Evoques drove past in the opposite direction. All black, bar one white one. All driven by different kinds of people, some old, some young, some couples, some single and some families.
They look much better in person than on pictures, and it was weirs seeing 5 lumped together.
As far as I know, there are no testing facilities close by or anything, so what they were doing, I have no idea.
Looked good though.

I saw one outside a Land-Rover dealership in Stockport last Friday.

I like the design, but I'd like to sit in one before I pass judgement, simply because I have a sneaking feeling it'll suffer from the modern car design curse of high waistline, low roof and huge blind spots, and in a car like that attracting the kind of drivers it will, it's a recipe for disaster.

If it was late afternoon I may have been driving one of them.

There was a "launch" event at Trent Vinyard and the cars were sent out on a loop that way, guided by Sat Nav.
