I'm guessing that must have been some time ago.
When my 14 year old started in reception some 10 years ago it was about 3.5 K per term, it’s now double that. I have 2 children so the Mclaren is on hold for a bit longer!

I'm not sure who is more obsessed with money and wealth, these people with nearly new BMWs Mercs Range Rovers etc, or the folk on here who moan about other folk with nearly new BMWs Mercs Range Rovers etc!

I think its probably the folk on here!

Just looked up the boarding fees for Charterhouse, £13,565 per term. No wonder they arrive in ten year old Zafiras.

At £3000 a term, none of us could afford anything.
You got that wrong you silly old sod. £2300 per MONTH for a day boy plus expenses.

No wonder you drive an old Golf.

An observation I've made. I live in a small village, with a village state school. At school drop-off time each morning, we have new-ish (<3 years old) Range Rovers, BMWs, Mercs, etc, many with vanity registrations. Lots of 'status' cars.
Ditto all that.

And they park on double yellows, zig zags outside schools, on crossings, on corners, etc, as it's all "me, me, me", and fk everyone else.

It was always the drivers of white Range Rovers and the like who would park arrogantly and be on their phones from the minute they picked their children up. They would always speed around the car park as well. If I were in charge I would check what cars they drive before allowing their children to join. And no badly spaced plates.

You’re right. It’s bizarre how many people post on here, a forum supposedly for people who like cars, complaining about those who drive nice cars rather than stboxes. Perhaps they’re just jealous? It’s particularly odd how these members are able to determine the insecurities and mental processes of those they despise too.

Anyway our oldest daughter goes to nursery and the best cars that I see are a Bentayga, which unfortunately is black with black wheels and window tints, and a nicely specced 992. There’s also a bright pink Juke that’s a regular...

My wife went to a very posh boarding school, it had it's own runway/landing strip. She and her brothers arrived in a Learjet at the beginning of each term.
The fanciest car at my school was a Jensen Interceptor driven by a classmate's very glamorous Mum. A very well known actor would turn up to collect his son in a gold RR Silver Shadow. I got dropped off in a Mini........

strange, if it wasnt for those "types" fueling the production of "nice" cars, then certain manufacturers would go out of business.

both myself and my brother went to private (bar college) but try paying £3k each per term since the early 80s, with the interest rates

our cars were just a-bs, and mk1 fiesta's

education is more important than what you drive.

alot of private schools now are just a pissing competition (it was to a degree then)

alot of those cars are run through businesses so woudlnt worry too much if you feel that "jealous"

just enjoy life, its like looking at someone's wife and wishing what if.

get over it.

I would have thought it was in Switzerland. I live in Brazil and I haven’t heard of any schools with private runways here....

tales from the 80's and my private school days.

1 kid coming in a helicopter

1 kid's dad was a "grumbleweed" (remember them?) he'd get picked up occasionally in a very tasty e-type. of course not expensive or rare then- but still beautiful.

or in the hey day of group B rally cars- a metro 6R4 (actual world rally car) driven by its pro driver (who with permission) treated us to a display in the quad. (big tarmac bit in the school). imagine the health and safety nightmare with that these days.

I'll say we had better cars as 17/18 yr old new drivers, than the teachers themselves had cars !!
Not WGS was it? I recall Phil Short bringing an Audi Quattro rally car one lunchtime, his sons were at the school briefly.

Also lived on the same road as a Grumbleweed but I don't think his son went to my school.

Seems a similar story though.

I’ve watched this thread with interest, my Urus will arrive soon and it’s been very entertaining seeing the stir it might cause. I don’t pay attention to these things or get involved. I drive what I drive because I like it and I appreciate a nice car when I see one not try and judge the owner.

Quite.

I'm lucky enough that I could afford private school fees but am more lucky that my eldest was bright enough to get into one of the top (state) schools in the country, no tutor, and from a decidedly average primary. Cream rises to the top; the rest can buy some help.

To keep on topic she gets the bus except the odd occasion when I drop her off in the lotus.
I see, criticise others for engaging in pissing contests, and then tell us all about how superior your kids are!

Oh, I also have a pair of these genuine East German Diplomatic flags, mounted to removeable magnetic flag poles I made :-)

I found them on Ebay for £20 and they came with the original envelope addressed to the London residence.

Shame they aren't West German as the East German's would not have run around in a then top of the range Mercedes.

Kids have apparently asked their parents if I work for the Queen :-) but it is a Primary School.

No, you only bought the car to impress other people, including outside school...apparently.

Or perhaps, those who think you are like that are part of the problem. Reverse snobs with chip on shoulder accusing others of snobbery.
