OP buy one.
Great car.
Every journey is worth it.
They go wrong, so do other cars.
I had an LPG converted 4.4 loved it.
This is the Family at Tixover Quarry.

Oh the off road lads enjoyed it when we turned up in the 'shiney'.

I also had an LPG converted one , looking back it wasn't that great on fuel consumption even with LPG , and it still needed £20 of unleaded on a far too regular basis for the short time it needed to run on petrol . It cost more on LPG to run than my current LS 400 does on petrol overall

Visually I think nothing else in this sector compares , they are iconic. The interior certainly looks sumptuous although IMO the build quality and some of the plastics used do not live up to the perceived quality.

I don't regret owning one , it was an enjoyable experience but not one I'll repeat

Just a general question..

How expensive would it be to run a FF RR in 4.4 V8 guise?? I know it is a huge, heavy V8 with the aero dynamics of a port-a-loo, but what costs other than ridiculous fuel bills would be expected?

I just woke up this morning and imagined myself travelling round the UK to football matches and to visit family in extreme 4x4 luxury!
Not really much more than any other large luxury car. I had a lot of E38's before I got into the L322, the engine and gearbox are the same, as is much of the switchgear.

Clearly, you're not looking to buy a FFRR as an economical runabout. The 4.4. on LPG is great though, should give equivalent to around 25-30mpg. Tyres around £150, brakes not too expensive, servicing fine, so long as you find a goo independent.

Don't listen to the experts who'll rant on about the horror stories, of course any car can go badly wrong, and if you need a new large V8 engine then it's not cheap, but if you tap into the wealth of great advice and secondhand spares available for this fantastic car, then ownership can be quite affordable.

I've never had a warranty on one, I'd question whether it would be worthwhile, especially on an 02-04, it'll probably cost you up to £1k per year.

Be warned about one thing though, once you own one, you may be hooked, it's very difficult to go back from Range Rover ownership! It really is a car which you'll love to own, love to drive, makes you feel great.
