Just saw this in the background of a Sky news report from Libya.

It was a green Renault Scenic - the one that was meant to look like an off roader with the plastic panels on it.

So its thousands of miles from where it should be Its taxed - Presumabley MOTd.

How the hell did it get all the way to a war zone. (I guess by Car Ferry) Too old and the wrontg type of vehicle to be a TV crew vehicle.

Really? That's interesting. Any reason why just from Manchester? Is there a big Libyan community there?

Dan.

Saw one on news24 the other day being interveiwed, he had an AK over his shoulder.
Good on them for helping to liberate their own country, instead of whinging and rioting in this country about what "we" should do.

I have these problems, too.

I programmed the Sat Nav to take me from Cirencester to Cribbs Causeway on Saturday and ended up somewhere on the outskirts of Weston Supermare before I realised what it was telling me a load of bks. grumpy

There used to be a ferry from Italy or Malta I think, but if they left after it kicked off they probably drove down through Spain and came across Algeria and Tunisia.

That's proper bravery, dedication and true commitment to a cause!

I mean, all that way in a Scenic RX4. Jesus wept.

I was insured when I drove there...

There's boats to/from the north of italy to Tunis (which we took getting there) and boats to/from south of France (we took getting back). Then drive down Tunisia (not particularly far) and pop across the border. Apparently it's easier to get vehicles in that way.

It really is a beautiful country.

I tried to get the ferry over the Libya just a couple of weeks ago, but my two friends were too old / fat / sensible to back me up. In the end we went to Genova, which is essentially the same thing.

How do they do this legally? I know its down to local law enforcement when you commit crimes abroad but people who go to other countries to have sex with children who are legal in that particular country are arrested when they arrive back in the uk.

So whats the legality of going abroad and fighting, killing for an army that isnt really an army?

Ask these chaps.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/exclu...

It's a pretty common thing to do these days, it seems. (Although I hasten to add that travel to Libya to help liberate the country there falls in an utterly different category to UK nationals fighting the British army in Helmand.)

As for that Reno ... do they really cost £260 to tax one with a 2.0 engine for 12 months? Flip me ...

Oli.
