Yawn - another Porsche that hey surprise looks the same!
Discussion
Really, another 'the 911 looks the same' thread? IMO, this didn't really warrant another new thread, there are plenty like this you could have added your comments to.
So what if the 911 looks similar to the previous ones? As has been said already, it is a design that evolves with each iteration and each is different enough from the last that the overall shape hasn't become boring to most people. Personally, I think the 991 is a big improvement over the 997 and has much greater visual impact.
If Porsche hadn't continued with the 911 all this time (i.e. no 964, 993, 996, 997) and was just bringing it back, all the critics would be heralding it's return and praising the 'retro styling that harks back to the original' just like what has happened with the Fiat 500 and other recent 're-envisagings' of classics. Just because it never went away shouldn't mean the same rules don't apply - the classic shape and the styling nods to the original are a good thing IMO.

I think its far from "yawn" - its a manufacturer who isn't afraid of sticking with a beautiful shape and not changing to some boring "looks like every other Coupe by every other manufacturer shape".
If only companies like Renault still made stuff the resembled the 60's/70's creations.

Harry, you're not seriously trying to assert that anyone could mistake a 6 series with a 911 are you?
The BMW badge is a bit of a giveaway
I'm rarely serious about anything. Was just struck by how different the 6 Series looked when you flipped the boot up and then it struck me what the shape reminded me of.The BMW badge is a bit of a giveaway

I agree OP, I dont think there's another prestige performance brand I care less about than Porsche. In my eyes they're overpriced, bland looking cars aimed at the middle aged grey hair crowd who want to show their wealth but haven't got the balls to get a Lambo.
I notice your comments makes no mention of ever having driven one and tbh just come across as jealous rantings.Probably the most widely praised and certainly biggest selling sportscars in history and idiots like you and the OP have nothing interesting to add.
Not a 911 fanboy, there are other cars that would interest me in the price range also, but have huge respect for is as a driving tool and product.

I hope not.

I really think that Porsche are painting themselves into a corner with the 911, they cannot change too much for fear of losing their hard-core fan boys so they keep churning out models which look ugly and boring compared to other producers.
One can only yawn....
To be fair, you don't HAVE to buy one. Is your concern that they may not survive as a manufacturer? If so, I think that may be unjustified. One can only yawn....

I'm far from middle aged (although there is the odd grey hair). I had in fact driven a Gallardo shortly before getting the turbo. I drove an E-gear car, and I hated it. The only three things it had were it's striking looks, sound, and fantastic N/A engine.
Not everyone is an attention we at wants everybody to know that they have lots of money etc. I personally quite like being able to drive my car 99% of the time going unnoticed.
Not to mention that a 911 turbo would run rings around a gallardo!
And if I took the ~£50k change into account, the case for the 911 strengthens!
