So not a folding roof as such, but a flip top like the California.
The California doesn't have a flip roof - I think you are thinking of the Superamerica.
Oops, indeed. boxedin

And neither does the 458 just flip the roof over, but not far from it. The roof is in 2 parts.

Lid-off McLaren in response ?? ??
Nah.

Mclarens aren't for posing in (and the SLR isn't exactly 100% Mclaren, nor in the same market segment).
The motoring press has been talking of one for ages:

What does that do for your biased view that the Ferrari is for posing and the Mclaren is for driving?

just don't think a drop top works with buttresses......i think this is an ugly over-fussy car. Stunning performance no doubt but just a bit too bling for my tastes

Not a McLaren fan but gotta say the lid-off Mc does look nice.. (May have something to do with the late summer sunshine outside at the moment).
Looking forward to seeing it at my fav traffic lights ..Number 1 Knightsbridge..

The videos on YouTube don't look like it. It looks like the rear window drops down vertically, then the roof just flips over:

That video looks like it was done using Forza 4biggrin
Car looks great though and the improvement in sound quality should help justify the extra pennies!!

Cut the first borrr-ing 50 seconds and then we get to some action in the form of nice engine noise. But what a boring video, and as for those disclaimers and goody-goody notices at the end.... what the censoredk?

Surely Ferrari can do better than that?

Why no pics with the roof closed? It is that bad?

Personally I love the look of this version. After owning a convertible (although a hell of a lot less exciting than a 458...) I now see the attraction: purely better to here the engine noise.
I thought that. The video neatly side steps any rear views of the roof closed too - not a promising sign. Still nice though,

What a stunningly beautiful convertible.....but it looks even better with the roof up. So the 458 coupe retains the title King of cars in my view.
