Every time I think I see one I realise that's it's actually just an Insight, so kudos for seeing a genuine Clarity.

No, but there was one at a show in London at the weekend, and so is probably on a tour here. Want to see a fuel cell car exhaust? I took a picture!

But even with private and public support — as we have here in Swindon — we need government commitment to make this work across the country as a whole.
Translation:lots of public money for our scam, plz?

Why is it a scam.

The way I see it, assuming an efficient way of extracting hydrogen is developed this is the the future of motoring.

You forget that there are clearly still a lot of people who think they can put their fingers in their ears and pretend that we don't need to find an alternative fuel source before we exhaust the fossil fuels we have.

There are naysayers who talk about lack of infrastructure, or that it's all too expensive. Infrastructure will come. The technology is in it's infancy and when it goes into mass production, the costs will fall.

Personally I'm all for any alternative types of power - be it electric cars, hydrogen, whatever.. I think the technology is fascinating and it's great to be witness to its conception and refinement over these last few years - looking forward to what the future holds!

Oil feeds a lot of money into the world economy.
Would hydrogen extraction replace or match that money?

I suspect the answer is no, and hydrogen technology will suffer lack of funding and always sit on the side lines.

The whole world is too oil dependant IMHO. Once it's gone, whether that be 20years or 200years, with the current reliance on oil for fuel/income, the worls is royally screwed.

Hopefully it isn't the future

Hopefully its part of the future where we have petrol for fun, electric for commuting and hydrogen for those folk with a 300 mile commute or a house that keeps moving around

You know what they say about assuming?

Yes, but I'm not one of them.

Yup. Like in the BMW Hydrogen 7.
Which makes half the power and gets about a third of the mpg.
