Girly girls that realise the rear seats in the hatch are a token gesture, and they don't need them anyway?
Yeah that's my thoughts too. Which is why I think it's more of a competitor for the Tigra, etc. (despite the lack of folding roof). It may drive very well indeed, but I don't believe that most buyers will have that in mind when they're buying it. It'll be interesting to see what proportion are diesels.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this, then. It might not look like anything else on the road, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. To my eyes at least, it's a genuinely ugly car.
So too is a Zonda.
idea

You can have the Mini coupe, I'll take the Zonda. Everyone's a winner.
That's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying a Zonda is stylish, but IMO is a bit of a minger.

The MINI Coupe is stylish too, my personal preference on if I like it's looks has no bearing on this.

2 door saloon, coupe, whatever, doesn't change the fact that saying the coupe has the same engine as the saloon/hatch, therefore is no good, is a little bit silly.
I didn't mean that... I meant the Integra, Fiat Coupe and Puma had different engines to their close relations so it had an extra selling point plus they all had rear seats. So someone with a few extra ££££'s wanting a bit of extra oomph without losing too much practicality in a bit of a sleeker looking body would be going for one of them.

The Mini Coupe doesn't give anything extra (looks to some maybe) apart from losing the practicality of rear seats.

For me, most people who only want 2 seats will want a soft top (mgf, mx5, mr2, z3, z4, etc).

I doubt this though... most girly girls will want the roof down.

I really don't know what market Mini are targetting with this... the Mini itself seems to appeal to everyone (Learners, girls, boy racers, family hatch, mature people)... Coupe... it's beyond me.

I don't actually know, but I can't imagine why there wouldn't be? I'd expect the diesel to be the biggest seller.

I know what you were getting at wink

But again, we clearly have differing opinions... on both cars, it seems.

Could we all get the spelling right (including you Riggers!).

Mini is the original British car.

MINI is the German thing.

I'd expect the diesel to be the top seller in UK and Europe, not the US market though, suspect diesel might not even be offered.

Nope, you'd be wanting next years Special Edition for that:

That's hilarious. In general, I still like the interior, but the exterior is awful

I didn't even know they sold the MINI in the US. I've never seen one there.

Think they've been selling them for quite a few years there, even the supercharged R53's I think.

Seriously, I just don't get this at all.
Why don't you? I mean it's not really that difficult.

Umm lets see, it's a COUPE, ie something stylish and less practical than a hatch. Over history there have been loads of these....

-MGB
-GT6
-Puma
-Integra
-Sera
-Fiat Coupe
-Tigra

I guess these are all beyond you too?

Seriously I don't understand why so many people have issues with MINI doing the same friggin thing as so many other.
They have issues because they're sad. Bet none of the moaners on here has ever been behind the wheel of a factory JCW.

I love my JCW hatch - but it might soon be a Coupe. Meant to have been 6 months of ownership, now nearly 3 years... it's a bloody hoot of a car, and I've owned enough different cars in my life. Been too much of a wrench to sell the JCW but a JCW Coupe might just do it.

150 mph from a 1.6, wonderful exhaust note and popping, it's not been a grin a minute, it's been a grin a second, and still is.

Winter's coming.
MINI moaners better hibernate... you might be seeing a lot of what you don't like!

...then when you emerge from hibernation, the MINI Roadster will hit you.

laugh

I like it in certain colour combinations.

Would buy one over the very ugly VW Scirocco or Fabia VRS if I was looking for a small sporty car.

Actually no I would buy the RCZ.

I wouldn't call it pretty either, it's all lumps, bumps, scoops and mismatched shapes and colours.

I don't hate it, but it's certainly not one of my favourites.
