VIN Plate

Hi,

Unfortunately I'm selling my TVR.

A potential buyer in France is asking for a photo of the VIN plate and number.
Apparently it is required to check if the car can be registered there.

Any know if this sounds true.

Guess I'm paranoid but don't like giving up such info.

Everytime I buy a new car, I ask for the VIN so, I can do a HPI check before I buy it. Is this not what everyone does?
