Well I have a big warm workshop, 2 ton engine lifter, and a stack of tools. And a handy mechanic down the road.
Just get the car and engine here, and a couple of friendly PHers, and I'm sure we could get the job done.
Where are you based OP?
What a gent you are! I'm in North Kent. Haven't got an engine yet though, and almost certainly looking at sorting it in the spring now if at all. Just get the car and engine here, and a couple of friendly PHers, and I'm sure we could get the job done.

I already have two MX-5s in my workshop, my track slag and a nice mk2.5, so plenty of reference points to work with.
Also have air ratchets and whatnots, just to make the job that little bit easier.
Only pisser is, I'm in Cheltenham... Will it get this far?!
If you spot an engine anywhere in this part of the world, let me know as I'm often out and about, might even be able to pick it up for you in the van.
And I'll say what I say to everybody I do favours for, don't worry about owing me one, just pass it on.

Agreed, fantastic spirit, well done!
Yep good to see the warm and cuddly side to PH, rather than the snarky, antangonistic side that seems to dominate... thanks chaps I'm going to sit on this project as I keep swaying between letting the car go and sorting it when funds allow...
The car would probably get to Cheltenham driven carefully, so it could be a realistic option next year.

Let me know if you need the scrappies numbers, they have three semi complete cars currently I'm going to sit on this project as I keep swaying between letting the car go and sorting it when funds allow...

Top bloke ! I read it somewhere years ago, a little flaky on the details now, but basically a true story about a guy that ended up stuck in a railway station in a foreign country, late at night, with no money or effects, hungry and with nowhere to stay.
A chap seeing his obvious distress took him out for dinner, sorted him a cheap hotel for the night, and basically made sure he was all good until the morning, when he could go to the bank, etc.
When the traveller asked him for his address to repay him, he just said, "Don't worry about it, pass it on".
Had something of an effect on me, and something I now try and do whenever I can. Well, honestly, isn't the world a nicer place when we all help each other out?

I've got a Mk1 1.8l and would be happy to come and lend a hand/reference point if need be? Would be a bit of fun and the run up to maser's place isn't too bad either
More the merrier!I've got a few interesting toys in the workshop to ponder over too (Maser, Frogeye project, the MX5s, jet boats, etc.), fun for all the family.

Engines on eBay for c£200-£300 for a 1.8.
Half a day to swap, it's easy.
Sell old engine for spares - £50?
Strangely, an engine swap is normally easier than engine repairs. Disconnect everything, haul out, drop in, re-connect. It really is fairly straightforward.
