Ok I'm at work and seriously bored hence the threads lol

Anyway on my way to work (m25) I regularly see people driving well over 70mph in the average speed check, do they know something I don't?

I see it far too often, are these average speed cameras not working on the m25?

There are a whole raft of methods by which speed camera's can be avoided or frustrated.

25 Years ago driving on the M1 watching big black Mercedes happily sailing by at speed of 90 mph day after day made me realise that there were ways of not joining the system.

Doubtless this still goes on. Hence your experiences.

I have never heard of a single person being done an ASC, ever!

I understood that the asc in the variable stretches don't operate in normal 70mph conditions. Nothing to back this up other than no ticket as yet!

I should have said in my original post, I mean the average speed cameras in the roadworks sections.

Judging by your username, I assume you're from Essex? I know (because I put them in) that the A127 average cameras are active, as is the one at the 40mph dodgy half-roundabout, and the first and last ones on the Canvey Island causeway are the active ones. All are telemetry jobbies, that upload the images. But I know people who have been caught on them in the last 12 months.

I came through the M25 average check area a few weeks ago, I was keeping up with flow (late on a Friday night) and we were all doing 70-odd. No NIP yet... (not sure if the cameras reach the contraflow)

A friend of mine has successfully demonstrated that the average speed cameras on the M1 result in a NIP. As a newly qualified teacher she is thoroughly embarrassed (67 in a 50).

Maybe a significant proportion of the drivers you observe will have a letter heading their way soon?

J10 (Luton Airport) to J13 or so. I drive J10-12 daily and that's covered. I set the cruise to an indicated 54mph and haven't got a ticket yet.

For some reason I worked south of Luton whilst that section was being widened, and spent about a year driving through those roadworks (mainly on two wheels as any more seemed to impede my progress). I've now spent about two years commuting through the roadworks north of Luton and it's getting boring, although at least going against the flow I'm back in my armchairVolvo as there's no time benefit in using a bike. (I'd also struggle to collect 3 children from High School on the way home if I'd kept the bike)

There are 2 cameras at the start of the road works going north of the M1 just after junction 10 which have a white line painted in their lines of sight in the fast lane. I can only presume these are the only 2 active ones northbound between J10 and J13 where the distances have been measured and marked for calibration purposes. Maybe someone can confirm this?
