I had all four pads replaced on my skoda Octavia vrs recently and since then I have found my handbrake failing. Twice I have found my car in rolled off the drive, and since leaving it in gear have found it rolls when I engage the clutch with the handbrake on.

I always let the cool down after a spirited drive yet it keeps happening. Aside from really yanking the handbrake...can anyone suggest anything?

Cheers guys

Taking it back to the place which did your brakes?

(Not that, strictly, you should expect handbrake adjustment if you just asked for new pads but, depending on the mechnanism type, there may be some associated duty of care around the work done)

How recently where they replaced? New pads can take quite a long time to bed into worn discs, especially on the rear and the handbrake will be a bit crap until they have.

Garage I got it done at is a few hour drive away (near family), and they have always been good to me. Wanted to see if it could be pads settling in etc! Will contact them about seeing it when I'm next there!

When i do rear pads i allway drive with the HB partly on for a few miles to bed them in, had many a car fail the mot after new rear pads.
The HB on rear disc braked cars are crap at the best of times, do you just pull the lever up or hold the pedal down to push the pads out then apply the lever ?
