Just a bit of a thought experiment really.
What would make an interesting or unusual track car for about £1500-?3000?
I was thinking something like a Sierra xr4i/V8 conversion. Vauxhall Chevette maybe. Or a redtopped Viva. What would you go for?
No E30 BMWs, MX5s, Pug 205s please. Far too common!
Stretching the budget I'd love a boxy Cortina with at least 250bhp under the bonnet!

A friend and I were thinking of stripping out a 3.0 V6 4WD X-Type, could have been pretty quirky and not that heavy once all the mahogany had been removed!

The FTO has dropped in price hell of a lot, don't see many on the track either so would be different? Plus plenty of spares available if needed which is always a good thing.

I think there's a lot to be said for a metro with a VVC lump dropped in.

The more of them I see at track days the more impressed I am with them..

Hmm. 4WD, power/weight ratio before stripping a none-too shabby 160bhp/tonne.
Now you've got ME thinking!
