evening all,

me and 2 friends are considering getting road legal quads, something like this:

http://pistonheads.com/sales/3162232.htm

Anyone have any experience with them?

Would appreciate any input

P.s, we can't afford insurance on another car, as we're 19, but want to do some offroading.

Be careful with Chinese made quads. The build quality leaves a lot to be desired. They make look good with lots of Crome and bling but some of them can be death traps. Always wear a helmet and protective clothing when riding a quad, it is no different from coming off a motorcycle in the event of a crash. No helmet will mean a world of hurt
Just noticed advert is for an Apache, good robust quads, there may be an issue over spares as I read on a quad forum Apache had recently gone into administration

Look out for Quadzilla brand, they are Tawainese are of a good quality and spares are readily available. Yamaha and Honda as well obviously, but more expensive

Leave the cheap Chinese ste alone, nothing but bother and you will struggle to get parts in any reasonable time scale......get a Yamaha/Suzuki/Honda etc..

I had a Suzuki LTZ400 (road legal) great fun on the Snow and ice..pain in the arse on the tarmac

what are you planing on doing on it?

Good fun off road or for about an hour on the road on a hot day. Other than that they're a bit out of their territory as a road 'vehicle'

I bought a Polaris 425 quad for use around my smallholding earlier this year. It's a 1995 and absolutely as good as new. Fantastic in woods and on grass. Would I take it on the road? Not a chance.
