Morning,

Had the Cambelt and waterpump changed on my 58 plate Vauxhall Insignia last week. Had the warning light on for low coolant since Saturday.

Could the 2 factors be linked? I have checked the coolant and it does appear low.

Possibly an air lock in the coolant system has now cleared - assuming no visible leaks.
Top up the coolant & monitor - by physically checking - over the next few days. If no further issues then that's all it was.
Don't ignore low coolant warning lights!

To change a water pump requires the cooling system to be drained or partially drained so yes, it is connected.

Excellent, thanks for that.

Cambelt and water pump are changed as a pair on a lot of vehicles, would be worth keeping a close eye on incase the new one has a fault as it could be costly if it goes tits

Had this on two cars where the coolant has been partially drained. Each has shown low levels after top up, presumably because of airlocks working out of the system.

I'm taking it into the garage at 1pm today. It's a lease vehicle.

3 weeks left with this pile of st!

Totally O/T but that's my username for most forums. In my morning daze I panicked and thought I had gained an Insignia overnight...

Pass. The old Corsa I learnt to drive in was enough Vauxhall for my driving lifetime...

Back on topic as others said, hopefully just an airlock. I had a rad done at a main dealer and it needed topping up by them after a day or so as levels settled. Or just keep driving it and maybe get a new lease car a few weeks early...tongue out

Any visible signs of coolant leakage (e.g. a pale crystalised deposit)? Coolant is pretty good stuff for showing you from where it's escaping!
