Its a record to me because the ACR would be something I would consider buying and using every day. The radical on the other hand not and before anyone try's to diasgree does the radical have a boot? Does it have a roof or a roof option? The list goes on.
Well done Dodge
What he said. The Radical is just a glorified go kart, just like that thing that looks like a Victorian bed frame with wheels.Well done Dodge

This is a "Production Car Record" for a car no longer in production?!?!
<cynicism> Huum. New model out in a few months plus marketing opportunity. Record for prototype mule maybe?</cynicism>
The Viper that set the record was directly off the forecourt of Tomball Dodge. If I had stumped up the extra for a 2010 model and that color scheme it could have been mine as its the same dealership mine came from. So no not a mule, stay tuned for the 2013 model updated time. There is only one car in the UK and that is an 8000 miler at Bauer Millett for £45k. The CTS-V is LHD only as well which is why you don't see them here. To import one yourself would be prohibitively expensive with import duties and 20% VAT.
I would imagine the "next best thing" is a VXR8 suitably blown and modified or an M5.
Don't think so LuS;I would imagine the "next best thing" is a VXR8 suitably blown and modified or an M5.

Add around £1,000 for RoRo + duty.

Been covered before. The clue is "Production Car" not "Car still in production record". So if a 1978 Austin Allegro could post a 7:15, it would still be a record. This is a "Production Car Record" for a car no longer in production?!?!

Does everyone agree there should be some sort of parameter on the "production car" definition? I can't seem to find anything out there, at least in relation to the Ring which states the specifics of what qualifies.
The Radical SR8LM has a 6:48, BUT does that qualify as road-legal? Only if it passed a SVA, of which I'm not sure either Radicals that hold the top two spots have that. Can anyone confirm that?

Most of that faster time is probably down to the driver, he's not banging on the limiter quite as often as the guy in the last video they did. Maybe he should have covered the Ferrari badge on his overalls though.
They did change the 5th gear ratio in the 2010 MY as a consequence of the 2009 run so that may have been part of it, there were a few other updates to the aero as well.No problem with the Ferrari badge, Dodge is a FIAT brand as well

The whole point must surely be to sell cars or provide some sort of relevant "halo" to a brand. I'm sure Porsches R&D department could build their own "Radical" and achieve a similar time but what use would it be?
This run was aimed at corvette and was done due to the demand from viper owners. Nothing better than beating the new corvette with the old viper.Destructo said:

Actually I am seriously impressed with this. WHY?
Because its a stick shift, none of this pussy footballer flappy paddle ste that you see on the latest Fezza's ;-)
Honestly though in this day in age it does make it all the more impressive.
The radical doesnt use a manual!
Not just the stick shift, this was the last of the vipers before the US DOT impose the need for stability control. The only electronic aid on a Viper is the ABS. There is no flappy paddle, no traction control, no stability control. its all between what your ass feels and your right foot does.Because its a stick shift, none of this pussy footballer flappy paddle ste that you see on the latest Fezza's ;-)
