Maybe it's been done before but thought it might make for a decent thread.

My input for starters is.

Lorry steering fails approaching a bend. Reason was a totally inept bit of design on the drag link, somebody should have been shot for that.

Anyway driver turns wheel and it's not connected so lorry goes straight on, mounts kerb, crosses verge and hits a streetlamp, the post is sheared off at the base and sent spiralling through the air.

Truck carries on and soon hits a fairly solid object.

Driver is thrown through the windscreen, lands on the ground in front of truck.

He survives all that with just a few scratches......

only to be hit and killed by the lamp post returning from orbit.

Some days the bullet just has your name on it.

There's a similar story in kite boarding circles. A guy who gets wiped out by a massive Squall. thrown 40+ feet up an lands in water just deep enough to save from injury. when after collecting said kite from nearby garden he gets killed by a bus on his way back to the beach.

Not that much of an outrageous story but my first crash was a dark horrible night when I misjudged a corner which resulted in me going straight up & over a steep bank narrowly missing a large tree plus the metal sign pointing to the escape route that I also missed (for the record there was no oil/diesel/mud or lube on the road)

Having survived the initial impact with no injuries at all my next concern was my car so I leapt out only to find that my car was at a 45* angle to a 4-5 foot drop which I fell into twisting my ankle and nearly knocking myself out.

I have a no death end story, but it could be consided. or maybe not.

A couple of years ago while trying to ride my mountain board; I was obviously going down a hill when I got it all wrong. I landed in a very muddy puddle and stopped unharmed. However somehow I was hit on the back of my head by the very heavy mountain board and either it's very thick ply or the steel trucks. All I know is it hurt immensely, plus as my feet were strapped in I couldn't tell how it came to hit the back of head. Or if I was knocked out, as I was alone.

There was an Australian lady a few years back who survived the Bali bombings, only to be eaten by a crocodile when she returned home a week later.

Hmm. The equivalent of a bloke in a pub joining in a conversation with "there's a great video on YouTube. Search for squashy" and returning to his pint. It's a conversation man! He's not writing a book on the subject!

Well, I crashed my Tuscan frown , lots of car body damage etc from the various trees and things I connected with.
I didnt have a scratch. My laptop was in the boot and after checking, was working fine.
A few days later I'm in the US in a meeting. I get my laptop and power supply out.
I had just got a new power supply as the last one was driving me crazy because the little plastic buckle button that held the rubber strap tight over the wound up cable had broken off.

Guess what got broken in the accident......yes the bloody little button on my new power supply strap thing mad

If that's your only worry in life (plastic thingy) you're doing pretty well. just use a ghetto rubber band to tie it up. Mine served me well for a good 3 years or so.

Theres a story which I am sure someone will post from a TrafPol attending an accident where a Ford Sierra with two sales reps in impaled itself in to the central reservation barrier - I think spearing and killing the occupants. On investigation by the HWA the joint where the impact happened was incorrectly connected, thus allowing the car to be impaled - this was the only bad joint they found in xxxxx miles of motorway. As I said, im sure someone will link the full thing.

I was a passenger in this -

Car came to a stop on the roof, quick check of all limbs, not a scratch...

Next thought process was to get my backside out of the car - so took off seatbelt, forgetting I was upside down, fell onto the already shattered windscreen and cut my head open...

Reminds me of a story from school. A few lads were hooning about some local country lanes when the inevitable hapens. Bloke rolls his fiesta, and it comes to rest on one side. Amazingly all the occupants are fine, right until the numpty in the back opens his door, pops his head up to get out and lets go of the door! Door lands on his head and gives him a concussion. It was the only injury from the accident.

I was coming home one day on the M25 going onto a slip, can't remember if it was the M4 or M40, anyway as I took the slip I saw a woman sat in a Pug 306 that had perched itself on the armco at right angles to the motorway.

I'm assuming she panicked, couldn't decide which way to go, ran out of road and ended skidding up onto where the armco started as a ramp and then ended up sat there like a lemon.

No pics of her as it was one of those wtf moments you sometimes just drive past without registering what you're looking at, let alone make a grab for the camera.

Google found me this and it's near enough how she ended up , minus the snow and the Nissan....

That was my next door neighbour at the time. Nasty way to go, left a family with two young lads. He was a car nut, had a Scimitar GTC at the time as well as his Sierra. He'd previously owned an original Cobra.

They were active Jehovas Witnesses, but not in a pushy way, never spoke about it to us really.

Real shame, he was a nice bloke.
